Coral speaks to esctoday.com
When did you get in touch with Eurovision Song Contest?
I’ve been following it since I was a little girl. Eurovision is a great spectacle and I always stayed staring at the TV watching so much glamour, elegance and class.
Are you influenced by any artist that you have as an archetype?
Barbra Streisand is to me an unique model to follow.
Who is your favourite Eurovision artist?
There are a lot of them, it is very difficult to decide because Eurovision has hosted many high-level artists. And I would dare to say that every country have ever been represented by a superstar in Eurovision.
Is the way clear this time for you to participate in a potential preselection in Spain?
It’s clear and the sun is shining.
Are you in touch with any former contestant of Misión Eurovisión? Have you received any advice from them?
Yes, I keep in touch with some of them, and it is very curious because the one who has to give advice it’s me! (Laughs).
Which proposal are you willing to participate this time with?
It’s top secret ;-).
Why should the combination Coral + your song deserve to represent Spain in Eurovision?
Because that combination gathers all the ingredients for going to Eurovision and rock it!
I know that, for the moment, you don’t want to reveal many details about the songs you are working on but could you tell us if you would sing in Spanish, in English, in other language...?
The songs are composed in Spanish, but if they are selected to participate, we would record them in English as well.
Why would you say Spain hasn't been able to reach a place in the top 10 since 2005?
It’s very difficult to answer, because there are a lot of influential factors. But we are making that change in 2008, aren’t we? (Laughs)
As a follower of the Eurovision Song Contest, how would you evaluate the support that the Contest has in Spain?
Unfortunately, it does not enjoy the support it deserves, whilst it is all an important event in other countries. I hope that will change because Eurovision is part of our musical culture and it has an important meaning for many Spaniards.
Do you think that Spain should definitely implement the national final system to choose the country’s representative in Eurovision?
Of course, that would be suitable. It should be a very classy programme. It is worth it.
Would you choose any existing example of selection method?
I think that Melodifestivalen has all the ingredients of a good TV programme together. Also, it has musical quality and variety.
What are your most immediate projects, apart from applying for the possible Spanish preselection?
We are preparing a new production to release my third album.
Finally, do you have a message for our readers?
Thank you, esctoday.com, for the opportunity that you are giving me to thank everyone for all their support and interest in my career, and especially during these Eurovision preparations. I can promise that I will live up to everyone’s expectations.
esctoday.com would like to warmly thank Coral for dedicating part of her time to us.
