The Silvia Night show

Unreleased footage from Athens 2006

Love her or hate her, Silvia Night certainly made an unforgettable impression on the Eurovision world last year in Athens. She didn't manage to save the world, she didn't even manage to make it to the final. What she did manage to do, though, is stay in the memory of fans for the years to come as one of the most controversial personalities to have ever walked a Eurovision Song Contest stage (and backstage).

Nowadays, Silvia Night hosts her own show on Icelandic television, a show she campaigned against as a publicity stunt. As she herself says in her myspace, lately she has signed the biggest record deal ever in Iceland. It only comes to prove that there is no such thing as bad publicity.

Following the link here you will be able to watch footage from the Eurovision Song Contest in Athens, exclusive to the Silvia Night Show. You can watch Silvia's legendary outbursts and some unreleased scenes from backstage, Silvia's hotel and the green room. And here, you can watch some more.

A special thanks to Vignir Freyr Helgason for the submission of the news.

I can understand how people get tired fast of Silvia Night. But what I don't understand is the feeling I get when I read most of the posts about her.

It is OK for a brat to behave bad and act crazy all the time in Press and people are really interested in the way those girls acts (think Paris Hilton), but as fast as I can count to 3 in my native tounge of Swedish people get mad when someone tries to find the sillyness and madness and say that It is not ok to give too much respect to those girls. And that is what Silvia is all about I suppose to open up our eyes and tell us that those brats are just dolls with too much money and who just act really strange when the press is in the neighbourhood.

I've seen very little of Silvia Night, but I think that Agusta Eva does a tremendous job playing her part. And I think that it is dangerous when a girl does this kind of humor, because girls have been very un-humours before. This is part of the usual talk of feminism, I guess. Nah, I stop here because my analysis gets too strange or deep!

She was amazing :) Funny and her song was good!!! I don't know why so few people understood the humour of her character !

Brilliant, great fun. What was it she called Carola? Ah yes "An ugly f@cking old bitch from Sweden". If only Carola had come out when Sylvia was banging on her dressing room door.

1) Augusta Eva is a brilliant actress in the paper of Silvía Night
2) The song was fresh and suitable
3) It was one of the best performances
4) My favourite last year, 'cause I understood her funny message instea dof being offended.
5) I agree with Ursa. Wonderful what she did when she didn't reach the final. Fantastic show, and the best of Athens 2006.
6) She is simply the best, and I want her in front of the Spanish Parliament!! LOL

ood luck to Iceland this year. Very nice song and, as always, Iceland is one of my favourites to pass the Semi.

For ALL things good under the ATHENS golden, bright Sun
Silvia's antics were simply NOT an example of good, sheer fun

Ms Night, having demonstrated such BRATTY behaviour,
did NOT in any way make her become a ESC "saviour"

Instead, something about a SORE LOSER keeps coming to mind
Did she search the reasons of HER failure? What did SHE find?

Her song 'Congratulations' and performance were not that bad
Even though her overall "chosen persona" was insanely ... MAD!

Good luck this year, Iceland!!!! :)

"Valentine Lost" is an EXCELLENT SONG!

I expect it to go to the Final
AND get a good Top 10 placing, too!

Watching those clips just confirms what I orginally thought...

Obviously, I can't say what passes for comedy in Iceland, but I for one just don't get her.

*shrugs*

Agusta Eva is a lovely, lovely person and a great actress. I believe she finds playing Silvia extremely stressful, especially in English. She does it very, very well in the circumstances. Dame Edna has been doing it for years to get it right.

Agusta Eva is brilliant in the role of Sylvia Night, I am sure she would qualify to final if she wasn't misunderstood by so many people, but then we wouldn't be able to see this furious reaction. :)

I hated her. She was neither funny nor talented. Just weird and fake.

Molly,
this cant be done again. But funny or not, this is a number that you ESC fans will remember for the year to come. However I do not really understand all these suicide predictions and why this is so disturbing for many of you a whole year later. This was an act, she (the caracter) is an Antichrist and in fact if she had made it through to the finals, that would have been a statement about ESC, not Sylvia and definately not Iceland.

@ Hoffa
You are right to be proud of Eirikur. His voice is fab. It is also great that the whole thing is totally different to last year.

Vicky

No, you don't have to be Swedish. I guess it helps if you are Norwegian though...

You do not boo a performer on stage. You do not boo a performer on stage. You do not boo a performer on stage. If you don't like what you're seeing, don't clap. But anyone past the age of five should be ashamed of themselves for booing.

I can't believe that so many didn't get the joke. I loved her. And maybe you have to be Swedish to understand just how hilarious it is to claim that Carola made the final because she slept with Stockselius in the backseat of his car.

I have no words for what i've watched, even though it was nothing new...last year i've watched most of her acts on the greek tv.

She made a complete fool of herself and atthe end everyone was laughing at her...hehehe revenge is always a cold dish...you always get what you deserve in this life and she got a huge booing after her ridiculous performance and she didn't make it in the finals :) :) :)

Thank God that Iceland chose the amazing Eirikuur and his Valentine lost for this year!!!
Good luck Iceland!

He he he!!!! This is wicked! Romario is hilarious!!!

When will people finally understand that this would just be like sending Borat to enter for the UK! It is just fun and not to be taken seriously at all. It all gave an extra dimension to last years competition which made it more memorable!

A good point from Alex Bradbrook! When are people going to realize that the Silvia Night thing is just an act? The actress Ágústa Eva didn´t mean anything by what she said that night! She´s got you fooled, and that´s exactly where she wants you!

On the other hand, I´m SOOO glad we selected Eiríkur Haukson this year to clean up last years mess, I´m so proud of him and love the song.

I also love the Irish song :) I think a lot of people in Iceland will vote for it, we´ve always had a soft spot for the traditional Irish sound :) Good luck to the Irish!

Wow, so funny! =D

I'm glad she didn't qualify, the performance was terrible, but she entertained me nonetheless.

Jeez everyone on here needs to lighten up I think!
I wish we could get the Silvia Night show here in the UK. She's a legend, half of me wishes she got into the final to see how well she'd do but I am glad she didn't now because otherwise we wouldn't have seen this!
The ACTRESS didn't mean anything she said. I'm sure she doesn't think Carola's a slag in real life. Just as in Coronation Street I'm sure Kate Ford (Tracy) didn't actually murder Bill Ward (Charlie)!
I want to be famous and be interviewed by her one day, she's grade A comedy!
I was lmao at the thongs for 12 year olds bit!
Amazing.

:D Your reactions are ... hilarous.

I love love love The Silvia Night Show. That episode when she went to Eurovision was hilarious and executed well. (: Loved the ending.. It often ends with Silvía being sad and disappointed.. It just makes you love her more..

I wan't this show on dvd. And I can't wait for her album to come out :0

King Kong

I definetely agree with you.

It seems to me that some of you really don´t know she isn´t actually a real person, she is a stage person and the girl who acts her is really different, the opposite as a matter of fact, known actress in Iceland. If you look at it from that side, funny or not... it´s not really markable what she is saying. Everybody should be laughing at this believable act (although many in Iceland are tired of this whole mania).
That´s my opinion at least.

King Kong

It was unclear what she was trying to do?

Let me spell it out : She was trying to be a grade A a**hole and she won a gold medal at it.
