Sanremo Festival 2007 shows age
Sanremo 2007 artists and songs known
The first thing one may take note when looking at the list of the participants is not the unusual absence of Eurovision artists – only Al Bano and Antonella Ruggiero, ex-Matia Bazar are in – but the age of the performers.
Pippo himself is an always young at heart 71 year old nicknamed Superpippo, but Johnny Dorelli at 70 is not much younger. Milva, a true diva makes a welcome come back to Teatro Ariston at tender age of 68. Al Bano is 64, Roby Facchinetti (63) brings along his son Francesco who at 27 is the youngest of Campioni. Then we have the large group of 50-somethings: Marcella Bella who duets with her brother Gianni (63), Fabio Concato, Mango, Nada, Paolo Rossi, Antonella Ruggiero and the members of Stadio.
After some experimental and poorly rated years while Baudo wasn’t in charge Sanremo returns to its usual formula of two categories: The Big and the Newcomers. Baudo has found some well known names through his invention of Newcomers category: Laura Pausini, Andrea Bocelli, Eros Ramazzotti, Giorgia to name a few.
The 57th Sanremo festival starts February 27 and will go on for five nights prime time on RAIUNO until March 3, 2007. If Italy or RAI was participating in Eurovision Song Contest most likely the winner of this festival would be the one for Helsinki.

Both winners were rubbish. While the lyrics may have been interesting the music to both had little interest. Neither would have done well in Eurovision. They may as well rename it The Sanremo Poetry Contest because it's obvious they don't vote on the music but only on the words. There were four nice songs at this years Sanremo with good melodies but nobody bothered voting for them.
elsa rocks
i hope she comes back in festivali i kenges tvsh she was for 2 years a winner of of FIK and than she went in italy to study she was sad that her mother died and wanted you know to get on with her life

Love You Elsa
I am sure the songs will be good, but the age of these people..honestly!
And I did like the 2005/2006 with a great hosts. And Povia was great! [see my Avatar!!!]
Go ELSA LILA--IL SENDO DELLA VITA
....
@andrija
i don't know exactly that the voting system will still be through the "demoscopica"...suppose for the first 3 boring nights the votes will be given this way. In the 2 finals (newcomers and "bigs"
the voting will be through SMS like the past years...even if it's a bit scary...Povia winning was something shocking for me...many surprises arrived last year...and suppose many more will come this year, even if the starting list seem so old fashioned!
The Music Trophy!
The most interesting prize to an online song contest goes to The Music Trophy that offers a different kind of music contest. Even though it´s similar to many of the other contests this contest has something special! Fight for the Music Trophy 2007!

Povia was my favourite last year and I was so glad he won!
I hope that in this year Daniele Silvestri and Leda Battisti will have the best songs. But there are so much old competitors and an Italian public jury (called "demoscopica"
is so old fashionable and conservative and they don't like something new and different
Too bad there isn't Alexia in competition!
go elsa lila, i hope she wins this time
;-)
I don't think cutting off from the rest of europe is a right decision espacially being one of the biggest countries of this continent.i hope they will come back, let sanremo decide who to send to ESC..........
What do we care about Sanremo, if Italy won't compete this year again?
where is the san remo of the past???
That male host looks like Jerry from Phoenix Nights! (That's a British thing). I hope Italy come back one day. Please.
I would probably like the show, but with that NON-STOP talking of 1/2 hour between each song plus promotion advertising promotion advertising this is soooo boring and spoils everything. :-(
Have always loved Sanremo !
Urska and Claudio, I couldn't agree more with you. In 2001 there were good songs, after that year IMO only Antonella Ruggiero and Giuni Russo gave something good to Sanremo.
Italy is such an old country where old men with old ideas rule (in parlament and in showbiz), not only Sanremo should change in Italy, almost everything should...
If in 2006 Italy had partecipated in ESC, it would have been in the big5 and would have gone straight to the final, but with Povia's song would have scored nil points.
Urska i agree with you...2001 was a great year...i thought we could have won with the beautiful "Luce"...
Anyway I'm quite happy we're not into ESC this year...how crap are the partecipant of SanRemo. Think it's REALLY time for a big change in the SanRemo festival...I know that Pippo Baudo is a relevant person in RAI and the italian tv showbiz but I also think he's a men of the PAST.
I am afraid that the songs will be so crappy that the show will be more focused on other things in respect of the songs...ie international superstars, italian famous signers (already announced for sure Ramazzotti and Laura Pausini) and so on...
When I look the Melodifestivalen i feeeeeel so blue...such a good show!
If Italy sent this song on ESC 2006 they would not see the final, I am sure in that, that why it is better if they don't compete on Eurosong anymore. I like this song, but I also know what most of ESC voters like so this wouldn't get many votes.
Not all San Remo festivals are equally good, I remember watching it when the song Luce won and Giorgia was second with one of most wonderful songs I have ever heard and would do very well on ESC also.
Year after year sanremo is getting distant more and more from italian music scene. This year's partecipants are quite old. Some are ok and even if they are old I like them because they are more modern than new artits (Nada and Antonella Ruggiero), some are very trashy (Al Bano), some are desperately boring (Facchinetti, Marcella Bella). Among younger artists Amalia Grè must be noticed for her talent and good song, she will not win or sell more records, but she will be noticed by everyone for her skills. Velvet and Zero Assoluto are the only ones who will be succesful in the italian charts after the festival. Mango used to write good songs but now lost his creativity. Daniele Silvestri had a wonderful hit (which would have been perfect for ESC) titled Salirò, I hope that he'll make something as good as this one. Paolo Meneguzzi will be a real flop. Milva is an old diva (quite famous abroad) but...erm...perhaps it's too late for her. Let's see what happens, Sanremo can't be worser than last year when the very untalented Povia won with an horrible song, there were very low quality singer such as Anna Tatangelo and time for music was very little.
We do not care for Italy, since Italy's not care for ESC
Why don't Italy take part in ESC any more? Pretty much the rest of the continent does!
so when can we expect Italy 22 come back to ESC ???
I miss them
