Best/Worst Dressed, National Final and the Junior Contest
esctoday.com awards - the costumes and more results
Best dressed act of 2006
Kate Ryan easily won the esctoday.com for Best dressed act with 32 percent of the responses from the esctoday.com members who voted in this category. The full results are:
- Winner - Kate Ryan (Belgium)
- 1st runner-up - Lordi (Finland)
- 2nd runner-up - Tina Karol (Ukraine)
- 3rd runner-up - Ich Troje (Poland)
- 4th runner-up - Eddie Butler (Israel)
The masked members of Lordi collected 26 percent of the Best Dressed vote; ironically Lordi was also the 1st runner-up for the Barbara Dex Award - a long standing, yearly fan award for the worst costume at the Contest. Tina Karol received 25 percent of the vote, and the elaborately costumed members of Ich troje received 13 percent of the votes for best dressed despite the fact that they were also 4th runner-up for the 2006 Barbara Dex Award. Eddie Butler only received 4 percent of the vote, but his style is clearly without fault - he was one of three acts this year that did not receive any votes in the Barbara Dex poll.

Worst dressed act of 2006
Portugal's Non Stop won the esctoday.com Worst dressed award by a landslide. This is not the first worst dressed award for the group; they also swept the Barbara Dex awards. The full esctoday.com results are:

- 1st runner-up - Jenny (Andorra)
- 2nd runner-up - Daz Sampson (United Kingdom)
- 3rd runner-up - Carola (Sweden)
- 4th runner-up - Elena Risteska (FYR Macedonia)
Non Stop collected 36 percent of the Worst dressed votes, followed by Jenny with 22 percent. Carola placed well in every category she was nominated - even this one - though with only 15 percent of the vote she falls after Daz Sampson who earned 17 percent.

Kates dress was sexy. However she was so red tanned herself so she almost got lost in it. Also eventhough she is sexy compared to most people on the street she was perhaps not up to the sexiness of her dress. I think Carolas dress was the most aesthetically pleasing and Lordis the most effectful. The beauty and the beast. By they way I read on a forum that it was a swedish guy who made Lordis costumes.
Normally she sings well. Must admit anyway that sound & vision technics were bad. The Swedish backings (who are excellent and famous singers) sounded harsh as well.
Kate Ryan? I thought the dress clashed horribly with the fake tan - in fact, it's hard to tell if she was even wearing a dress...
shame she couldnt reach the notes on the semi final, maybe if she sang well she might have done better, but swinging a leg is nothing special, heather mills mccartney did it to her estranged husband and look what she ended up like
She reached and reaches much more than ESC, Garry
we love kate failing to reach the final ha ha
Who gives a flying chocolate teapot about the costumes - it is the Eurovision SONG Contest, not a cattle market!
We love Kate's dress, we love Kate's dancers, we love Kate's neon-microstands, we love Kate's 11cm high heels, we love Kate's backing vocals, we love Kate's knee-swing, we love Kate's voice, we love Kate's song...
Kate, Je t'adore!
Ich Troje was "overloaded" and not really stylish because of that unfortunately. Kate deserved it as she deserves so much more...
Yes, yes, yes Portugal, yes, yes, yes
But i think so the best dressed have Ich troje from Poland.
sweden needs to get out of the house more, there is more to life than eurovision, how sad
SWEDEN IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GO SWEDEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SWEDEN OWNS ALL OF YOU!!!!!
Congratulations Kate !!!!
