Carola, Sweden 1983, 1991, 2006

Invincible?

Sweden's Grammis announced- No Carola!

The nominations for Sweden's Grammis have been announced and there's a big surprise... This year's Swedish representative in Eurovision Song Contest in Athens, Carola, is not nominated! Especially considering that Andreas Johnson, BWO, Linda Bengtzing and Magnus Carlsson, who all failed to stop Carola walking away with Melodifestivalen 2006, are all nominated.

The Grammis Awards are the Swedish version of the Grammy Awards. Held each year in February in Stockholm, these  awards were established in 1969,  cancelled in 1972 and returned in 1987.

The nominations for Sweden's Grammies 2007 have been announced and there's a big surpsise... Carola  Häggkvist, one of Sweden's biggest stars and this year's Swedish representative in Eurovision Song Contest in Athens with ''Invincible'' is not nominated!

The surprise is bigger when we see amongst the nominees Sing For Me by Andreas Johnson (3rd placed song in Melodifestivalen 2006)  and Temple Of Love (2nd placed song in Melodifestivalen 2006), both in the Best Song category. BWO (Bodies Without Organs), who performed  Temple of Love are nominated in two more categories: for Best Pop Group and Best Album. The same group received a Grammis Award in 2006 for Sweden's most popular band of the year.

Andreas Johnson is nominated for another category: Best Male Artist. There's even a Best Schlager category and the nominee goes to...Linda Bengtzing! Magnus Carlsson is nominated at the same category for his Christmas album.

Carola need not worry though...There's a chance for her to claim a prize in the first annual esctoday.com awards! Will she be amongst the contenders? Find out next week on esctoday.com!

@ Gordon of OGAEUK

1. I am not a resident of the UK, I am British but a member of another OGAE EU Group

2. I know full well that Richard Crane has gained himself a ticket as he has already told a member of another OGAE group

You carry on with your threats... I know that the OGAE UK ballot was fixed and unfair to people living there, HOWEVER.... the blame lies at Finlands door - This IS this most ludicrous and unimpartial ticket distribution that EVER existed !!!

1000 or more Eurovison fans will be displaced on finals night. I suggest a walk out during the Finnish song, whistles blown throughout, objects thrown onto the stage (as Serbia-Montengro 2006), some form of disruption to the entire night to show the distate in what has happened.

No doubt 'Nanny Stella' in Greece will delete this message, but it will be posted again and again... under many names until WE, the fans are considered for who we are and what we have given to Eurovision in the past, that makes it what it is today - email=t.g.green@gmail.com]t.g.green@gmail.com/email]

I like Invisible/Evighet as a song - I dont like Carola.
So, the fact that we are talking about her as a person not being nominated and not the song makes me cringe. The song is fantastic, the person is a tired old cow.

I don't like singers that act like divas...
Carola and Anna Vissi acted like that in ESC2006 and fortunately they didn't win.
I don't know how they act in their everyday life, but in ESC their behavior proved that they are arrogant and do everything just to draw people's attention to them. They are afraid that they will soon be forgotten since more talented newcomers arrive... But whatever they do, they will never reach the level of real divas like Nana Mouskouri, Vicky Leandros or Gigliola Cinquetti...
There are many new singers with much more talent than them both.

@ Rubin Safir:

Prove the facts first, before you write. She was married before, she has got a little boy named Amadeus and she is living in a relationship at the moment with a norwegian singer.

@ all:

everything i ask is a bit less childish talking. "*haha* i didn't like the ****ing windmachine .. turn it on .. more more .. then you get a prize". Are you aware how much bull**** you're writing sometimes? And how can you say that she isn't famous in Europe. May'be she isn't known by all the children, but with ESC fans - her name is big! No one cares for Anna Vissi from Greece in Germany, no one cares for Carola in Germany and no one cares for Christine Guldbransen either .. but ESC fans know them and like them. But why do some people have to talk in such a bad way about the singers?

Are you afraid of anything? It's really sad how some of you behave.

People like BWO and Andreas J have far more talent than Carola. If it wasn't for Eurovision, no one would have heard of Carola.

I don't really like Carola's music, but I cannot say she's not talented. She is talented and has a professional voice. I don't like her Eurovision entries except 1991, but she succeeded because of taking part in that contest.

I'm very happy to see my favorite Swedish singer, LInda Bengtzing, nominated in one category, and I hope she does well and will win, she deserves it.

Gil.

Look any people who have a problem with carola can craw back into their holes and get a life. Ye are continously taking about her bad points and not her good. Looking at it from the bottom, she is an excellent singer, performer, hardworking person and is one of the most famous people of Eurovision !

any swede who can give us a link to view all the nominees????
anyway i do agree with christian...maybe she's a bit too sure of being a superstar but her song "framling" is still one of the most loved songs of the 80s in ESC and though when she won in Rome (I was a child but i've seen that) she was kinda revolutionary with her performance...
And her song this year was quite good...maybe not the winner (though i still don't like Lordi's song) but seriously good enough to be in top5.
She's a bit homophobic...yeah it's true...but lgbt are always attracted by singers/bands who makes schlager and then refuse their lgbt market...i care about that...but i still like their music even if i don't like their mind/behaviour.

Do you people, apart from the scandinavians know the other nominations? I don't, so we can't jugde the nominees of the sweedish grammies.
Morover after her three participations in esc and the places that she get i don't think she is a bad singer or crap as mentioned. If she don't like homosexuals that's her problem, not ours. The nominees are for songs and voices not for personal beleives.
I'm gay and i don't care what she beleives about homosexuals. That's her problem. The point is that she has a very nice voice.
