Not in Ukraine... but in Turkey!

OGAE Video Contest 2006

The OGAE Video Contest is, among other kind of contest, an alternative option to the Eurovision Song Contest created by the OGAE of many countries to make the euro-spirit last longer and diversify even more. Its 2006 edition will be held in Izmir, Turkey. After last year's winning OGAE country, Ukraine, and runner-up, Netherlands were unable to host the event.

Ukraine won the 2005 edition of the OGAE Video Contest in Portugal with the videoclip of the song Ya zabudu tebya (I will forget you), performed by Svetlana Loboda. Consequently it should have hosted the 2006 edition, however, due to technical problems, the Ukrainian OGAE had to withdraw from both hosting and participating to that contest, so did the runner-up, the Netherlands. You can see the winning video from 2005 by pressing the 'play' icon at the end of the article.

OGAE Turkey (which came 3rd in 2005) expressed huge interest in hosting the show, which will now be held in the beautiful city of Izmir, facing the Aegean sea. The efficient Turkish team even provided to all of us a brand new website on which you will be able to watch the videos of all the 15 participating nations. Participating list:

  1. MALTA "Love on the radio" - Fabrizio Faniello

  4. FINLAND "How can I not love you" - Hanna Pakarinen
  5. SERBIA "Obala" - Flamingosi
  6. ITALY "Contromano" - Nek
  7. SLOVENIA "Barka iz Perja" - Jan Plestenjak
