Lovebugs top chart
A bad night for Switzerland but good news for Band
The official Lovebugs website are today reporting that the band's Eurovision Song Contest entry The highest heights has hit the number one spot on the alternative music itunes download chart in sweden, breaking into the top 40 overall. In finland, the song is at number three on the same chart and inside the overall top 20. At home, the song is close to the top 10, hitting 12th place today and is on the verge of the top 50 in Greece.
Switzerland's failure to qualify last night means that the country will miss a third consecutive Eurovision Song Contest final. The country reached the top 10 in 2005 with Estonian band, Vanilla Ninja's entry, Cool Vibes. That meant automatic qualification for the 2006 final, where Six 4 One performed the song If we all give a little by Ralph Siegel.
Siegel composed Germany's only winning entry for Nicole in 1982, and was also left disappointed last night when his latest entry, Get out of my life, failed to take Montenegro to their first Eurovision Song Contest final as an independent state.

I really hope this song will keep on hitting the charts. Though a bit echoing New Order, it was the most original and modern song all over this year's contest. I think that expert juries are absolutely nedded in semifinals too and not only to save one song wby a wildcard. Unluckily, until this kind of songs does not proceed, countries will be justified to send old-fashioned sh.., and, I'm sad to say it, especially from Balkans and ex-Soviet Union.
An absolute shame, though it's great to see that everyone here also thinks they should have qualified.. but someone said it already, they were just about the only entry that is in touch with what's going on in the world. But yeah, in Eurovision that doesn't mean much..
And from Basel, my own city, too... hmm, schade, juengs... aber ärfolg in de charts isch e huendert mool wiiechtigä! mir siin stolz uff öich!! B)
THE LOVEBUGS ROCK!
Injustice that this didn't make it to the final. I think that Switzerland is the most unfortunate country in Eurovision. Since it is considered a neutral country nobody votes for it. However Lovebugs can show everyone that they are good!!! Hopefully they can get even better chart positions
2 disappointments in the case of Switzerland for me:
1. The live performance (voice),
2. They couldn't reach the final.
"Lovebugs!"
It's a bigger succes to conquer the billboards than the ESC-trophy. So, good luck guys!
I completely agree with Fabio. And yes Switzerland should have been in the final.
this was my favourite song im really dissapointed that this great song didnt qualify. Happy to hear is a top 50 hit in greece.
What happened in this song was completely injustice. Maybe we should have 50% jury vote in semifinals as well. But lovebugs will benefit from this entry many people like me will be fans of this group. We love you.
Switzerland should have been in the final. Full stop!
Before the semifinal Switzerland was my clear favourite of 1st semi. The studio version was awesome, and furthermore it was quite sophisticated in comparison to the other songs. Unfortunately, the vocal perforance WAS THE WORST of the night. Even though I wanted it to be the best
I still wanted Switzerland to qualify (I hoped for better singing in the final), but didn't really expect it. PITY!
Pfff, the Armenian performance was 100% powerful, like it or not. And their costumes were incredible.
Talking about vocals, let me remark the voice of Ms Ernman was dreadful. Specially in the verses, I don't know which one was worse, the 1st or the 2nd. Did any of you heard her voice during the verses? I didn't. And in the chorus she got loads of help from the backing singers. Finland also had a weak performance, it was a complete mess. I never was a big fan of the song, but when I watched them on stage I asked myself 'wtf?'. I still don't understand WHY they qualified.
Romania and Turkey were dull too. But we all knew they would go to the final. Frankly, I am tired of the typical 'One Thousand And One Nights" stuff from Turkey, we even had Aladinn on stage dancing with Hadise. I'd like to see something different for once (they saved their record with Deli, at least).
THE SONG was GREAT and so was the performance...now we know that everyone will have a different opinion because they simply want their countries song to win..and will say things like his voice was not good..the song was bad...but the truth is that this was on of the best songs and should have qualified...
Aufull performanse from Switzerland last night ! They deserve it to stay in semifinal
Same as last year for Switzerland - great song not so great vocals - do not qualify. Same as last year for Armenia and Romania - rubbish song, rubbish vocals qualify for the final - hmmm!
@Blaise Jones,
I really like your expression "shocking monstrosity", I agree 100%
On the other side, I am happy with Israel, I was afraid about Noa's classification for the final, taking into account the televoting has 90% of the decission in the final.
OK, the vocals were flat at parts, but he was not 'out of tune'. Hadise's rubbish song was performed far worse and qualified. That shocking monstrosity from Armenia qualified. Who will vote for Switzerland though?
Regarding mina-x comments, even if vocals were not good enough, I still can not understand why horrible "things" like Armenia reaches the final. I say horrible because the performance, the dance, their voices, Armenia this year was crap in all senses. The case of Romania is a bit different, it is simply because the song is one of the worst Romania has ever sent to Eurovision and the lyrics, come on, ridiculous.

Great song! Weak performance......
It was the best contemporary song of the year but their vocals did no justice to their beautiful song...I also agree with mina-x about the esc audience.
I think Monetenegro's song is rubbish, however it's one of those songs which, with a good draw and a show could slip through. That slimy man doing a terrible dance really didn't cut it.
I actually think Finland was lucky to qualify, it really looked and sounded bad on camera. On my Facebook I saw someone write 'just watching Finland Eurovision entry - Oh dear!' I doubt they'd have made it without Sweden and Iceland.
I love 'The Heighest Heights.' At least we won't have to see every Eurovision site spelling it wrong again, ever again [

I am very disapointed. It is a crime that Switzerland has not reached the final instead of the crap entries from Armenia or Romania. Totally crazy, but in Eurovision is normal to see this kind of unfair things. That's Eurovision !
@ mina
I agree. This kind of song is not one of the tastes of the average profile of last night's audience. I think it was the main problem. If Portugal and Malta could qualify, Switzerland also could, but all countries it's not possible and I think that Portuguese and Maltese entries were more suitable to the regular audience of ESC semifinals.
There were two surprises in last night's voting.
A pleasant surprise was Israel qualifying.
An unpleasant surprise was Romania qualifying.
I feel really bad for Montenegro. It was a great song and a top-notch effort. Andrea, don't give up, you were great.
again switzerland fails pity, good song, and too see the likes of turkey and armenia getting thru
terrible songs, other qualifiers were ok but then i didnt like romania either
i think iceland could do it, or bosnia
such a shame. finland and armenia qualified and not this song??? shame for those who voted that night. switzerland will never qualify :-((
Voted for them a hundred times last night. 'The Highest Heights' is the only entry in this year's contest in touch with what's going on with the world outside ESC. I admit the singer wasn't at his best last night but still it's too bad they didn't qualify.
