News - Live: eighth heat in Bulgaria | Eurovision Song Contest News - 2009 Moscow, Russia 

The eighth heat of the Bulgarian selection for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest is about to be held. Another five songs will be presented and three of them will qualify for the third and last quarter final.

The show will last for about an hour and the following songs will be performed:

Freeway - Sama
Biby Michael's Friends - Valshebni noti
Iskren Petsov - Zashto se varna
Sunay Chalakov - Neshto ludo
Tsetso Vlaykov - What does it take

Two of the songs will qualify through televoting and a third one will be chosen by a jury.

1. Freeway - Sama

Freeway present a rock ballad in Bulgarian. The band consists of a singer, two guitarists, a drummer and a keyboard player. It is a laid-back song and the chances to qualify depend on the other four participants tonight.

2. Biby Michael's Friends - Valshebni noti

An up-tempo operatic entry. There are three singers on stage wearing classical "opera" dresses. Two of them are singing from a notesheet, and the third one is singing next to a table with candles. The crowd seems to love them, this is pure entertainment! The song itself is interesting but it does not seem to fit in the Eurovision Song Contest.

3. Iskren Petsov - Zashto se varna

This song was previously released and it is one of the stronger entries. The song was written by Iskren, but was arranged by Deep Zone, who represented Bulgaria last year. It is a catchy pop song and Iskren along with his two backing singers are giving a strong performance. There are three jugglers around him, doing tricks with fire. This should be likely winner tonight.

4. Sunay Chalakov - Neshto ludo

"Neshtp ludo" means "Something crazy" and the title could not be more correct. Sunay is alone on stage and he is giving a relaxed performance of his hip-hop song. The crowd in the studio is standing up and dancing to the tunes of the song.

5. Tsetso Vlaykov - What does it take

Tsetso performs a piano ballad. He is wearing a suit with a cowboy hat (which is the reason why an SMS comment says "I'm a cowboy... hahaha ") and he gives an overall strong performance with his backing singer and guitarist.

The results will be presented after a series of interval acts.
