New CD box

France: Malene Mortensen live in Paris

On Thursday, 27th, former Danish Eurovision Song Contest entrant Malene Mortensen and her band will perform in Paris. The concert will take place at the famous music hall New Morning.

On various French websites announcing the concert, Malene is described as a 26-years old charming jazz performer, who already travelled the world. She not only sings jazz but also gives to her performances a pop, soul and R’n’B touch. A new album is due to be released in France. It will be a 2-CD box published by label Nocturne, entitled Malene chante Noël. It includes songs from her repertoire as well as jazz and Christmas classics. The CD will also include video clips of the concert she gave in Paris last April.

Malene Mortensen represented Denmark in Tallinn at the Eurovision Song Contest 2002.  With the song Tell me who you are she finished 24th and last.

Ohh, I remember her back in 2002. The song is great (I like it) but her performance live that night was one of the worst of ESC history!

I believe that in 2002 Greece, Russia, Romania and some other easten Europe country votes weren't real votes (how could Russia give points to such a crappy song as SAGAPO?).

So...why didn't anyone else vote for Denmark? I guess everyone must have cheated as well, in a great global conspiracy to not vote for "the best" song. Cyprus, Greece, Croatia and Malta used a 50:50 televote-jury mix, does that mean their votes are half-wrong too? If you want to win Eurovision, you need a unique song (doesn't have to be the technically "best" song) that stands out on stage. She didn't have that.

Nordic countries like Finland and Danemark were underated with the best 2 songs of the year. I still can't beleive how Greece, Romania, Russia, could get more points than Finland or Danemark.
But now I'm glad that Malene has her international carrear and thather talent is known.

I was at Malene's concert in Stockholm a year ago. She's a very good singer and a nice person (I managed to have a chat with her) :) She deserved to do much better in 2002.

"Tell me who you are" is definitely one of my faves if not my overall fave from 2002 :D Ok the live performance wasn't that great, but she definitely didn't deserve last (That should have been reserved for greece lol) ;)

You may not believe that (perharps) before the voting of 2002, i was the only fan that voted for Latvia to be the winner and Denmark for the last position ... and Spain, Greece, Lithuania in the top 5 (from below) ... The dannish singer desappointed me so much that night

I can understand how it didn't do well. It wasn't the best song, and her performance on the night was not so good. But it's good to see she's has a good career and things are looking good for her! And I agree, her look now is much better than the one she had back in 2002!

The song "Tell me who you are" was one of my favourites that year. I could never understand how it could finish last!

@ costas
yes ur right
she is a good singer , and her song was very good. i think she was nervous at esc , and they styled her badly, but the studio version of the song is excellent
