"Star and Death of Hoakin Mureta"

Belarus: Koldun stars in Moscow rock opera

Dmitry aka Dima Koldun, who represented Belarus at the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 in Helsinki, stars in the leading role of a rock opera "Star and Death of Hoakin Mureta" in Moscow. Today, the young star will also be opening the show at the Scorpions Humanity World Tour concert at the Sports Palace in Minsk.

Rehearsals are in progress and the premiere is scheduled 27-30th of November at the Rubnikov theater in Moscow. Koldun will play play the role of legendary robber, Hoakin Mureta ,in the new version of the rock opera composed by A.Rybnikov. Not a long, but a very demanding role for Dima who was offered the part back in spring but had to decline due to his heavy tour schedule. He was finally persuaded to audition and got the role by beating other popular stars such as Alexander Marshal and Sergey Lazarev.

At the moment, Koldun is busy shooting the video for the main theme of the opera. You can listen to some songs and buy tickets online by visiting the official website of the project by clicking here.

Meanwhile, Koldun is ready to open the Scorpions concert that will take place in Minsk, on November 7th. Koldun first met  with the legendary band during his participation in the Russian Pop Idol (Fabrika Zvezda).

Dima Koldun - Still loving you

Special thanks to Evi for the information.

Paul, if you don't like him, don't even listen to him!! Koldun CAN sing, and Scorpions trushed him, that says everything.

Oh please... save my ears from this! He can't even sing... He showed that to all Europe in 2007 (and he was 6th?!?!) and now, again...

He is sooooo Belarus's best entry ever :D "Work your magic" is an amazing song, and the performance was spot on :)

"Work your magic" could easily be the theme to a James Bond film, it has has that sort of atmosphere to it :D

How bizarre. Just yesterday I was seraching the Esctoday archives for any articles about Dmitry Koldun, but couldn't find any. And then voila, here it is today. Utterly bizarre, but undoubtedly very welcome, as he is one of my favourite Eurovision stars! Thanks, Anna! :D

Dima Koldun? Wasn't it Dimitry Koldun? Or is Dima short for it?
