Some of my favourite Croatian entries have been 1995, 1996, 1998 and 2002, with some of the bad entries being 1997, 2003 & 2008. How the 2008 song made it to Eurovision, AND qualified beats me. It placed 4th in the semi, and 21st in the final - I think this is one of the few times that the semi final has NOT been a good indicator of how a song will do in the final.

Croatia is one of my least favourite countries in Eurovision because their songs always tend to be quite rigid. 2007 seemed to be the only time they sent a proper song, and all the others were like cringey, quirky ethnic entries. I only just keep their 2006 entry on my iPod because to me it's the Croatian Dancing Lasha Tumbai. I hope for something a bit more... commerical from Croatia next year.

Great, another country revealing its plans for qualification.
Does anybody know when is the deadline for submitting interest for ESC this year??????

Stockholm
Well I think I prefer her 1998 song :) Much better quality, I find her 95 song a bit . . . . I can't put my finger on it, but I just dont really like it.

Stockholm
She was in ESC in 1995!? Wow I better check our her song then! :D

Florian
Thanks for the info. With all these secret marriages, anullments and dating, it looks as if she leads a pretty shady lifestyle! :P ;)

I'll check out more of her songs :D

@ Jonny:

Danijela Martinovic also participated in DORA 2005 and 2006.
She was secretely married to Marko Perkovic, singer of Croatian band Thompson (it got annulled in 2006 I think). Before and after that marriage, she was and is dating singer and songwriter Petar Graso who also composed her Eurovision entry in 1998.
Danijela released many albums over the years. A best of- collection was released in 2006

I haven't a clue but "Neka mi ne svane" was a good song too :) Danijela also entered the ESC in 1995.

When your final is staged in a veritable resort town such as Opatija, I think it is high time to bring the orchestra back in. I know for sure Stipica Kalogjera and Silvije Glojnaric would relish the idea.

I also think Nina Badric is one of the best singers not just in Croatia but in all ex YU republics. Also Colonia is my favorite Croatian group, but I don't think they would enter Dora in first place... I hope they would... Lana, Luka Nizetic ... I think Croatia has some really nice singers who would do well in ESC

Good luck!
Please choose a great song for 2009. The only Croatian entry I really liked was Maja Blagdan's "Sveta ljubav" in 1996 :)

Croatia have always been a bit...hmm...average when it comes to ESC entries. I think either Vanna or Severina were my favourites this century - but admittedly the songs are nothing spectacular! :P

I agree with Florian - Luka Nizetic!!! He is absolutely smokin' hot, he can sing - and did I mention he's hot?! :P

Good luck Croatia - you know who to send! :D
