First Marley monument in Europe
Dado Topić at unveiling of Bob Marley monument in Serbia
The statue, the first Marley monument in Europe, was unveiled in the yard of the primary school in Banatski Sokol, on the occasion of the fourth ‘Rockvillage’ festival. Dado was accompanied by fellow singers Neša Galija, Zoran Kostić - Canet and Jovan Matić. It was sculpted by the academic sculptor Davor Dukić and stands 190 centimetres high.
Dado represented Croatia together with Dragonfly in Helsinki 2007, but failed to make it through to the final.

@ Bepo Batinic
So,what you are basically suggesting means that every single representative of a certain nation has to have all the bad or good characteristics of that nation. So If Serbian soldiers killed someone at war that means that every single Serb wears a knife at his belt with the desire to slay? So much of tollerance and understanding! Superficiality knows no limits, indeed!
Bloody hell!! Bob Marley is such a legend personally I think every country should have a statue of him!! And why does it matter if Serbia wants one? Its their descision to make not ours
Si mi reina...well i think you need to go to hell...
You were all surprised that its gonna be build in serbia as if it was something so shocking!
I am glad its there, and good job for Serbia!
@milan S
hehehe its so funny when serbian talks abut peace as we all know recent history of that country
Any Bob Marley fans on here?
No Problem! If you knew serbian you would know the difference
Doesn't matter anyways
Lonchar, I´m sorry for the mistyping, but the name I see is Zorica Loncar, not Lonchar... anyway, long live raggae!
@ Calabacines
Its Lonchar actually lol
"...And second, if they want to put his statue let them...maybe reggae is not that big here, but then again there are people that like it, and if they want to build a statue to Marley, i see no reason why not!"
And Mr. Very Intelligent Doctor, when did I oppose the statue? When did I ever say that Serbia has no right to Marley´s statue in place?
"Just coz something is not big r popular doesnt mean that the minority that likes it should be neglected!"
When did I say reggae should be neglected? When did I use the word minority?
Take my advise: you´d be better off if your language skills were not so limited. Maybe by improve them, you can also become a little bit less narrow-minded.
First of all, our population is 7,5.
And second, if they want to put his statue let them...maybe reggae is not that big here, but then again there are people that like it, and if they want to build a statue to Marley, i see no reason why not!

"I'll tell you some bands like Del Arno Band, Drum'n'Zez, Eyesburn, Masta Basta, Zion Crew and co. They all took part in EXIT festival of which you probably heared and on reggae festivals which is kinda logic right?"
Zorica Lonkar, pay attention: Serbia has a pop of about 10 million people, and you mentioned 5 bands, of which Drum'n'Zez describes themselves as ´Their music is a fusion of many styles, some which are reggae, pop, ska, dub, rock, world music and is a style that also includes an ethno tune or two from their surroundings´, while Eyesburn is said to be ´hard core punk, raggae´. Serbian music is not widely known and raggae is not widely popular, either. It´s no wonder I could not see the connection between both, which should have been easily explained without useless rhetoric.
really i didn't know bob marley was big in Serbia and i think they have a statue in jamaica too.
@ Calabacines
Why shouldn't be associated with reggae music?
I'll tell you some bands like Del Arno Band, Drum'n'Zez, Eyesburn, Masta Basta, Zion Crew and co. They all took part in EXIT festival of which you probably heared and on reggae festivals which is kinda logic right?
"Well Owen tell us why shouldnt we be associated with it?"
Nemke s, why don´t you tell us why you should be associated with Reggae, instead? Tell us something about Serbian reggae musicians, where they perform, and so on, if you will.
Well Owen tell us why shouldnt we be associated with it?
Excuse me Owen, but let me tell you that people in Serbia don't live in 16th centuary like many of you think !
We also listen to some music here, you know, and many people love reggae music you know !
What a stupid question
@Owen
Nothing, really - except that in Serbia there are also many people who stand for peace.
excuse my ignorance but what has Bob Marley and reggae music got to do with Serbia?
