Liechtenstein gets a TV station
For Liechtenstein, a tiny Alpine microstate nestled between Austria & Switzerland, this has prevented them entering in the 70s, when an entry for Biggi Bachmann was even chosen, before being disqualified by the EBU for this reason.
However all that may be set to change as on the 15th August, the new television station 1FLTV began broadcasting, as the world's first ever television station based in Liechtenstein.
1FLTV is a station that has been licensed by the government of Liechtenstein, so will most likely be eligible to join the European Broadcasting Union should it wish to. At the moment, the channel does not have its own website, but the startup and continued broadcasting of the channel is well documented on Liechtensteinian news sites.
As yet it is unclear whether 1FLTV would be interested in entering the Eurovision Song Contest for Liechtenstein, but for the first time, it is a real possibility.
Liechtenstein is a microstate with close ties to Switzerland, its population of around 37,000 puts it ahead of Monaco and San Marino but behind other Eurovision countries. The capital is located at Vaduz.

The Faroe Islands are as independent as Greenland, and have had home rule since 1948. Just as Greenland they are not part of the European Union. Their cultural life is very rich considering the small population.
All Faroese I've met - and that's quite a few through my work - consider themselves Nordic, but not Danish.
The main difference as far as the ESC is concerned is that the Faroese are interested in the contest as such. They watch the contest on Danish television, vote in the national selection (especially if Faroese artists) and they probably vote in the ESC as well.
But the national TV station is not a member of the EBU, so us Swedes can probably not count on any 10 points from them any time soon. I take it for granted that their douze would go to Denmark.

Well Greenland is a seperate country, so I don't think they are in the same position as Scotland, however I think the Faroe Islands count as Denmark... unless they are independent? I don't think they are.
Some Nations will do just about anything to be in the Song Contest :-D

This might sound like a weird question but is Azerbaijan's ITV the only private owned (rather than a PSB) television station in the ESC? Should this station join then I guess there would be two. I think Luxembourg's broadcaster was also private but of course they no longer take part.

Here's some information you never asked for:
Greenland are certainly geographically North American and that the native inhabitants are Inuit, but historically they're closely linked to Scandinavia and have a substantial Danish minority. They have extensive home rule within Denmark, so politically they're most certainly European. Greenland, unlike Denmark, is not an EU member.
The Faroese situation is pretty much the same, with the exception that the Faroese are entirely Scandinavian in language and culture.
For what it's worth the Faroe Islands have their own national team in football and Greenland would too, but they have for obvious reasons no football fields that are fit for international play. Once artificial turfs are accepted that might change.
I have no idea whether either could be EBU members. Your probably right in that they have more or less the same status as Scotland.

As much as I'd love them to, I don't think Greenland are eligible to participate as they are neither geographically nor politically a part of Europe. I don't think the Faroe Islands are eligible either, I think that's a similar case to Scotland.

Yeah you're right It was quite interesting looking through your chart, great to see the Poodles at number 1, and I was surprised to see Nordam sitll in there. Pleased to see Maria, Kate Ryan and Leona Lewis in there aswell

I'd love to see Liechtenstein in the ESC.
Also the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Can they? I know they've both got their own TV-stations and the Greenlanders are even associated members of the EBU (http://www.knr.gl/)
Btw, did you know that the Faroe Islands TV (http://www.svf.fo/) broadcast one of the Swedish MF semis this year, since there was a Faroese participant...

I'm sure they have enough money. Because it has been licensed by the government of Liechtenstein and every government has a lot of money. They just don't have a website AT THE MOMENT. I'm sure they'll get one.

The Austrians who withdrew last year, or the Swiss who havent really achieved anything except two nul points within 6 years and a mild success when they imported a band from Estonia?
Somehow, I don't think it will make the difference for Zürich/Geneve/Basel 2010

About day after day . .
I like the song, but not the vocals. I think the instrumental version is great but the vocals just put me off If it was sung by someone else it would probably be alot more appealing to me.

Yes, the Azeri NF was huge. I think "Day after day" is a good rock song. Elnur is screaming a little at the beginning but I like that too. It reminds me of Croatian Maja Blagdan in 1996

I also hope Azerbaijan send us a few good rock entries. I mean, this year wasn't exactly my favourite song . . .!! . . but I think they're on the right track, they had a huge NF and they obviously take the contest really really seriously which I like, and I think they would be great hosts of the contest, in other words I would be happy to see them win!
