why the hell is my post deleted?? Where's the Democracy?
jeez, it's like living in Auschwitz.
ruslana can not really sing, can not really dance, she can a bit of all and just being cute, that is her specialty..and of course having very close friends in the new ukrainian regime of the "orange" revolution
Ruslana is one of the best singer in the world..... FOR SURE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Flying into Simferopol on the 8th. Guess where I'll be on the 9th?
marc,
you forgot to mention Helena Paparizou in the list of ESC greek performers f the last year who can sing. I know what you mean in a way..the thing is that Greece wants t score well, it takes this contest seriously, and it knows it is all about the show, and it plays with these cards. And i think this is ok..because most of the countries do the same, only their performers not nly can they not sing, but also they can not dance and they can nt pull off a 3 minute show with energy and shine. And for me this contest is-and actually has been-more than a song contest, a show contest..And i think the decision of ERT to use Sakis and to announce it so early, will carry away also other countries to do their best. Would you mind if Robbie Williams, Sugarbabes, or another big UK star would sing in the ESC for the UK? i do not think so..you would be very happy i think, the same here :-)
Vincent,
Obviously the big crowd likes this kind of music my friend. I think it's dull, dull, dull....and even more every year is a copy of yet another entry... I am just saying that Greek entries (although not good placing) were original.... now they are mainstream poppy crappy little things performed by goodlooking people who can hardly sing (Exeption Anna offcourse)
we have to wait a bit and listen to the song which will be composed for Sakis..but i think he has many, many chances to win this contest. I am only a bit worried, because, there are rumours that Kostas Martakis(also a very famous Greek teeny pop star, younger and as handsome as Sakis and even more, he competed fr the NF 2008) wil represent Cyprus. Now these two are kind of rivals in Greece/Cyprus. If this is gonna happen and they are going to sing both in ESC 2009, i am afrais the one will rob some points from the other, and they will both finish somewhere upper middle. I think, Martakis can sing better than Sakis, but because they adress to the same kind of fans, i am afraid in this possibility they will steal each other a top3 place out..well we have to wait..first to listen to the song and then to see if Martakis is gonna accept to represent Cyprus.
I did not likr the appearance of Ruslana very much back then, the song was ok, powerful. for me both "Lane moje"(great song, 2nd) or Sakis(great performance) would have been better winners
marc, you said:
".... The man can not sing, he showed his torso and that's about it,...but after the last 3, 4 years we got used to this kind of cheap crap coming from Greece.... "
as far as i know the greek performers following Sakis have never showed their torso and have never come with cheap crap. Helena 2005 did not show her torso, Anna Vissi 2006 did not show anything(although she has a very nice bdy and figure which she could have showed off, but she didn't), Sarbel 2007 was more than dressed from head to toe(you couldn't even see his arms), and Kalomoira 2008 or her dancers showed also n torso at all..The only thing these greek performers did was to give a very good show and a suitable choreography on stage and also shine a lot. And yu said you liked Vossu, ESC 1991(a great song and voice i agree) and Marianna(ESC 1989, and 9something, not so good, but okay for me..). Sofia ended just 13th because of the very beloved and missed jury voting. And Greece offered the ESC 2006 a very good sng and an excellent performance and it finished 9th..So either the majority of the viewers like the "cheap crap coming from Greece" very much, or it is not at all a cheap crap after all
Maybe Sakis will do a Dima Bilan on us! He will compete and finish very well and then return a few years later with a much better song!
Good luck Greece
I hope his 2009 song is better than "shake it". "Shake it" was nice but it relied too heavily on the dance routine.
OK now it's official ... Sakis for Greece again!!
Greece sending to Moscow Sakis Rouvas ... so Athens 2010!!!
Goooooooo Greece!!!
God forbid.... Well at least all the gay boys and girls amongst us will have a good time. But next to his heavenly body there is not much left.... The man can not sing, he showed his torso and that's about it,...but after the last 3, 4 years we got used to this kind of cheap crap coming from Greece.... Mina if you think Ruslana was screeming, how do you define the noise Sakis makes. If you listen back to his "performane", the only thing that came out of his mouth was heavenly breathing....
Yes, he doesn't have a great voice but he's a great performer...and he doesn't scream
And btw in 2006 we didn't send 'crap'.
Anyway I'll wait for the song ofcourse but Sakis is a star and I'm sure that whatever it is, he will do well
I meant heavy breathing
Mina,I just read exactly the same thing!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck Greece, Athens 2010!!
Irrelevant but I have to say it somewhere!!! According to Oikotimes, Sakis is going to represent Greece next year!
Gooooooooooooooooooooooo Sakis!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes jonny, that's what I'm hoping for
Amazing woman, amazing winner and a hit all over eastern europe including some west countru=ies!
I think she was a very deserved winner that year.... full of energy, nive outfits, good dance routine, the picture worked for me.
did it really chart in tne Netherlands and Belgium? because in Norway it wasn´t even released on single..
I think Ruslana was a great winner, her song may not have been great . . . well actually it was just gibberish but she performed it with such energy and enthusiasm she totally 100% deserved to win
I'm not usually a massive fan of her music, but has anybody here heard the official version of "heart on fire" by Ruslana? The demo version opened the 2005 contest in Kyiv but she has officically released it now and it is very good
I wasn't a big fan of the Ukrainian entry but I think Ruslana's performance was good. Considering how many dancers there were originally (in the preview video) I think Ukraine managed quite well with only 6 people on stage. Personally I wanted Turkey to win.
I agree with those of you who say that Estonia 2001 was the worst winner.
@ Mark x
Wid dances, big hit, where!!????
In the whole of Eastern Europe, Belgium, Netherlands, and some other countries... Where were all the other winners hits ?
Yes, she's very famous, she's taken part in many tv shows. She's not married as far as I know but I think she has a son from a previous marriage (not sure).
yes vossou, ...
I love Ruslana
And you can't say she is the worst winner
Remember 2001 and 2002 winners you can not compare them to Ruslana she ROCKS
Remember 2001 and 2002 winners you can not compare them to Ruslana
2001 yes but 2002 since I voted for I wanna, sure I can compare Marie N who was a sweet girl who didn't have the greatest voice but at least she didn't scream to Ruslana who should have paid for my otitis medication that year
