Candelaria contest

Spain: Eternamente enters popular contest in the Canaries

Eternamente, the song to enter the 2008 Spanish preselection for Eurovision, composed by France's Yann Charpentier and Spain's Miguel Linde and sung by Mayte will take part at the Candelaria contest, to be held on August 1st and 2nd in the island of Tenerife.

Candelaria is nowadays a well-established musical event in the Canary Islands. Many singers who have took part in this contest have gained recognition and are currently developing an intense recording career.

After shortly missing out the final stages of the Spanish preselection Salvemos Eurovisión this year, Eternamente is yet again in the competition. The singer Mayte and composers Yann Charpentier and Miguel Linde will fight it out to win the Golden Conch at the beginning of August.

Candelaria contest lasts for two days: the semifinal will be held on August 1st. Then, the qualifying entries will go through the final, scheduled for August 2nd.

The winner of the contest will win the Golden Conch and € 6,000, to be shared at a 50% split by singer and songwriter. Runner-up will be awarded with the Silver Conch and € 3,000. Third placed will receive the Bronze Conch and € 1,500.

No, Rodolfo won't come back, since Buenafuente, the tv program which created this character, has decided to "kill" him. He was buit for Eurovision 2008 and now it has passed he will not act anymore, at least under Rodolfo Chikilicuatre.

Jonny K,

yes, that´s true ! :) It was a huge surprise to me also that Anael did´t have a chance to give her best at the Eurovision stage and probably win the whole contest!

Stockholm calling,

Gson knows how to make good songs! :D I loved d´Nash and Anael..

Mina,

I can imagine how much you liked "Chiki-chiki" ;)

Sanna,
Yes, I was sooooo gutted when it didn't even make it to the Spanish final, when 9/10 songs at the Spanish final were awful! :)

Mina,
LOL! :D (H)

'''the Spanish viewers wanted a "Spanish" song this year''''

They got the Spanish already...not sure about the 'song' part.
LOL

Sanna:

I also like "Thinking thinking" but it seems that the Spanish viewers wanted a "Spanish" song this year. "Thinking ...." was written by the same Swedish team (Gson) who wrote last year's Spanish entry.

The best song of the preselection in Myspace, and my current ringtone. If this song had represented RTVE would have been a great rival Believe. I would have been very complicated because both of them I think are the best songs of 2008.

@Jonny K

I totally agree with you! :) "Thinking thinking" is one of the most beautiful songs I`ve ever known. Anael probably would have ended in top ten in this year´s ESC.

One of the first recognitions given to the wonderful Eternamente, and it's obviously well-deserved !
I guess and think this team will receive several other rewards in the future, and especially..... ;)

Very average song, reminds me of Bayartsetseg (not my daughter, but a MGL singer).

She's sooo amateuristic!

One more song I find much, much better than the chiqui song. At least this is a real song and Mayte has a good voice.
By the way, what happened to Rodolfo? I heard he doesn't appear as Rololfo anymore?
