Eurovision Song Contest Belgrade 2008 Serbia

Live from Belgrade [UPD]

Day 5: Montenegro, Israel and Estonia

The first day of second rehearsals is now underway and this morning, Montenegro, Israel and Estonia will complete their first technical rehearsals and press conferences. You can read the reviews below from the rehearsals and later today, our media partner, 12points.tv will provide video footage.

Song 1: Montenegro -Stefan Filipovic- Zauvijek volim te

Stefan has a deep natural voice and is one of the strongest male singers in the competition. His vocals are effortless and he provides a charismatic and charming performance of his song Zauvijek volim te. Stefan is joined on stage by 4 blond girls dressed in black leather outfits and red gloves.  Stefan is dressed in black with a white shirt, beneath which we can see a back t-shirt with two red hand prints. The four girls dance and interact well with Stefan on stage and are brought to the fore at the end of the song.

Song 2: - Israel - Boaz Mauda - The Fire in Your Eyes

Boaz provides another emotive rendition of his song Ke'ilo kan. His soft vocals combine well with his five male backing singers. Dressed in a shiny silver sleeveless waistcoat and jeans to match the silver and soft blues colours used in the stage presentation. He joined at the front of the stage by his 5 backing singers in the time held Israeli fashion.

Song 3: Estonia: - Kreisiraadio - Leto svet

The Estonian group are greeted on the stage by the three scantily clad blond female dancers waving Serbian and Estonian flags. This is basically the routine which was presented in the Estonian national final. Kreisiraadio are dressed in soft red, yellow and blue suites. The background shows people walking. The references to food articles in the Serbian lyric are displayed by signs of cake or onion the same way as the sun is shown when they sing about "summer lights" in Finnish and German. A little smoke explosion is also on stage after the instrumental bit

Boaz is a great singer, really great! I like his voice a lot. Estonia sucks and Montenegro is OK, but boring.

Israel - very good. I like his voice soo much and the song is very nice. The only thing i don't like is the dance of 5 back singers, they even seem to be unprepare for any syncronized dance

Boaz Mauda. you are excelant singer.
after watching some of the reharsals this are my top 5

1-Ukraine
2-Israel
3-Bulgaria
4-Hungary
5-Portugal.

Sweden,Slovenia and Norway who were in my favorites top 10 list are very disapointing. Sweden actualy looks boring and ordinery. i dont understand what is all the buzz around this song. for me its so plastic and recycled. have people in Europe realy lost their taste in music???
i think Sweden will scratch it way to the final. and if so they are going to be number 9 or 10 in the semi final and place 14-19 in the final. wait and see.
this year Ukraine takes it all. i think maybe Israel is a potential winner too.

dima bilan

how low you have to go to get attecion?? be a man and withraw and stop "blackmailing" ..you did just spoil your chance to win this contest..israel did the same last year and look how they ended
there are certain rules and its not fair to other participants if you are demanding more time to your show .

i dont miss anything if you withraw because it s not funny to watch you twisting at the stage like you had a diarrhea..get a chair instead of lieing on the floor of the stage..

otherwise i like russians but this is too much..

OMFG, whats the problems with the break before greece? theyre so overreacting, I HATE the Russian song and Dima bilan and the ladder. But they will say that 1 song is left, what will people do? turn of their tvs? obv not if they wanna vote for the best song. Then they have to watch the whole thing, ppl wants to see hows through also.

I can't believe the fuss about that! let them have a break.

@ Mark x @ Kelan

Or simply Greece which is less demanding on stage to perform in 19th place and leave Russia to perform 20th, with full equipment.

I think is more simple. Greece has nothing to loose if perform before Russia.

I agree marc- it definitely feels as though Russia have been sold the ESC this year- I'm surprised that they didn't fix 19th place for Russia in the first place as well.

And if they are gonna have a break in between songs 9 and 10, which I think they usually do, it would be better to make Russia move to slot 9, and use the break to there advantage- now that would be fair!

The ladder didn't look good anyway! And I really hated the part where he was sliding up the side of the ladder!

Noro,

I read it aswell. So there will be a commercial break between Russia and Greece.... So that's bad for Greece. Dima wants to withraw because RTS decided together with EBU that Russia can not use the ladder. This is all very bad. I really do have the impression that 2008 has been sold to Russia.... They want to win for years and now they are in serbia with one of their "biggest" stars they will do whatever.... Dear friends, boycot Russia....

Wow! Us westerners thought that when it comes to Eurovision the east alway stick like glue- I think not any more!

Do you think the west will win this year? Will it all blow over by next week? Who knows, but it is definitly some excitement!

Is this potential withdrawal, the reason why this website has yet to be updated with the rehersal videos, and comments? I think so!

(If one country gets 30 seconds more- all countries should! That will extend the programme by 9 and a half minutes!- giving Terry Wogan more fuel to create jokes on our Eurovision brothers and Sisters!)

Mistakes!

should read

if there is a break before Greece's song that is unfair for all the countries except Russia and Greece. Because it will give people more time to consider Russia's song, and then wait for Greece, which is a good song.
I don't think they should make an exception for anybody. Because next year you can imagine everybody causing trouble, and wanting to bring on something massive, just because Russia did this year. It will be a disaster- and will the ESC be able to say no, when they have allowed it this year? I think not!

I read there will be a break before Russia as they do not have enough time to get his whole circus act in place... I think that would be scandalous. The Serbian organisation should never allow this, I kmow the Russians always think they are a bit more compared to the rest, but this would be so unfair towards smaller countries. Boycot Russia... ( Sorry I am a bit biased against Russians, speaking fron personal experiences)
