Supporting role in a TV series
Spain: Beth to make debut as TV actress
Lalola, an adaptation from an Argentinian soap opera, will be aired daily next summer on the commercial TV broadcaster Antena 3. Viewers will be able to watch Beth performing a supporting role next to other well-established names of the Spanish TV scene.
Beth won the Spanish preselection Operación Triunfo back in 2003. Therefore, she represented her native country with the song Dime that year in Riga (Latvia), placing 8th.

Beth had a good song in 2003, but vocally she was really bad! I like Spain's entries : 1995 & 1998!
Beth didn't come second to Operacion Triunfo. She was thired (first one was Ainhoa, second Manuel Carrasco), but the rules always stated that any of the three winners could represent Spain in Eurovision.
"Eres tu": you're right. Beth didn't won, Ainhoa did.
Beth did not win Operacion Triunfo; she came second. But her song was the most voted to go to Eurovision.

Well you may be in luck, there have been rumours that 2008 may be his last year! 
Turkey is transcontinental. So geographically it is in both Europe and Asia

Spain was my fav' in 2003... Until I saw the bad performance.

Dime was great. I still love that song. sing it along everytime I listen to it, should have done better that year!!!

Yeah, I remember him saying something like that about the Bosnian song too. Now when I listen to the song that is all that I can think about.
And about him being annoying? Definitely! But no, I don't love his commentating. I wish that somebody else takes over from him soon, and brings some seriousness into the event-, which is what we need, to succeed at the ESC. (And NOT John Barrowman!)
If you are having trouble finding accomodation in Belgrade. I have 2 LUX rooms for rent, one with double bed, the other with 2 single beds. Sole use of bathroom, access to kitchen. It is true that major part of our land is in Asia but you can never consider Turkey as completely out of Europe, for we have appr.a land as big as some European kingdoms. Thus nobody in Turkey has an obsession to be European, as I mentioned before. Anyway this is not a platform to discuss this. Good luck Spain in the contest.
Yes dear, but the mainland Turkey these days is Anatolia (Anadolu in Turkish), which is an Asian peninsula. And it was named 'Asia Minor' even before. I agree on that you have a rich culture, so I don't understand this obsession to be considered 'European'.
Fabio Deluca, I am delighted by the geograpy and history education of your contry. Turks have ruled a major part of the Balkans (which is IN Europe) and still is a bridge between Europe and Asia. I don't know if you have ever heard of the Bosphorus Bridge in the middle of Istanbul. However we have no interest to be European or Arab or enything. We have one of the richest culture on Earth and it is enough for us, thank you very much

The girl had a very nice song but on stage there was no confidence at all. She could make definetely a top 5 with beter
performance.

Cool! The studio version wasn't too bad I suppose but the live version was just . . . . . . . . . BAD!!!! I remember that leading up to the 2003 contest, everybody in the UK thought we had a chance to win! They couldn't have been more wrong!

Sorry! I can't remember exactly it was so long ago!! I also remember Terry saying that the Bosnian song was a rip-off of Tom Jones "sex bomb". Oh well . . . . . . .although his comments do get rather annoying, you have to love him!!!! 
Dime was one of the best songs that year but Beth's attitude was not so great... she was not an eurovision fan and that's how she acted the days before the competition. Anyway, she made a good performance and deserved a higher position.

I also believe 2003 was a great year (it was my favourite by far!!) and Beth was my favourite too, though the live performance was not great.
And about the soap opera LALOLA, it's quite nice but kinda similar to the movie "The hot chick" (too similar I dare to say... lol)
Turkey is not Europe (geographycally, historically nor ethnologically), but let these guys dream for a while. The point is I don't know why they are trying so desperately to be 'European'. Just be the way you are, being European or not does not make you better or worse!
