Russia: Dima Bilan in Athens

Dima Bilan, the representative of Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 visited the Greek capital ending his promo tour. During his stay he visited several TV shows, gave interviews to various magazines and newspapers as well as radios and of course and exclusive for esctoday.com to our team member Anna Krasilnikova.

During the afternoon TV show, an unexpected surprise awaited Dima at the studio of STAR Channel: his Greek Fan Club welcomed  him  with flowers and cameras. Dima performed his 2006 entry Never let you go, this year's entry Believe as well as the Spanish version of the song. Moreover, Bilan took the opportunity to demonstrate his vocal abilities and sang a piece of a classical opera.

Following the scheduled plan, Bilan, escorted by our very own editor Anna Krasilnikova,   visited the Greek musical channel MAD in a live show and radio programme, where he spoke about his plans after the Eurovision Song Contest 2008. A three piece construction full of dry ice will be set on stage in 30 seconds flat.

" I have many plans and many ideas in my head", said Dima Bilan. "And that's what I will be doing after".
Bilan also revealed some secrets regarding the stage performance and what we are expecting to see in Belgrade. "It will be the first time in the Eurovision history when the stage will be partially covered with ice
", said Dima. "We are working on it hard, to be able to construct the ice for the famous athlete Evgeniy Pluschenko who is also my friend and will be with me on stage in Belgrade. Also there will be Edvin Marton playing a Stradivarius violin".

Apart from Olympic figure skater Evgeny Pluschenko and Hungarian violinist Edvin Marton, there will be two backing singers and one dancer. The three performers, will attempt to tell the European audience how to be strong and never stop going after their dreams.

Really not getting the hype about this one... cheap song with mediocre vocals at best. Would like to see Moscow hosting the show but it won't be in 2009.

I'd really mind Russia winning this time. The song is a bore and he can't speak English. Can't believe that so many people think that it doesn't matter.

OMG... I could not stop laughing when I watched his interview, HE CANT SPEAK ENGLISH.... it seems he remembers several words he taught at English classes at school and that's all :))being from Russia I feel shame.... however, should wish him good luck in Belgrade since I want my country to win :)

"Apart from Olympic figure skater Evgeny Pluschenko and Hungarian violinist Edvin Marton, there will be two backing singers and one dancer. .." Let´s see if I got it right: this Bilan guy said in Brussels that one of his back singer will an opera singer. Plus a violinist. Plus an ice skater. Plus one dancer. Plus a lousy singer. Hei, this is a freak circus! Who should the public pay attention to?
About little girls: some comments in here are truly revealing. Like that woman who listens to Believe so she can boost her self-belief. Hilarious! Or the guy who thinks that Pluschenko will attract votes. Hello, wake up! Is this Pluschenko guy going to sing, too? And what is viva creer?? So, anyone who is able to babble some Spanish will automatically get 12 points from Spain?? OMG, freedom of expression is a real wonderful thing.

His Spanish sucks, in my opinion. There are certain lines I hardly understand, even if Spanish is my mother language.

Was it an interview? He was repeating the same lines countless times: 'second time in Eurovision this, second time in Eurovision that'. Dear, if you have nothing interesting to say in an interview, what's the point? I am afraid his English vocabulary is rather limited. When you are not confident enough at talking in English is better to have a translator by your side. Just a suggestion.

My comment disappeared...

Like I said, he should sing the Spanish version in Belgrade. :)

Well, I'll probably vote for him either way. And I'm not a little girl, constantinos. ;)

only girls and gays will vote for Dima.
which means Russia will *unfortunately* win.

constantinos savva [44527]
Thu 8 May 2008 17:13:20

i think that the only reason he might win is if all the little stupid (in my opinion) girls will vote for him... his song isn't anything special... there are so many better songs like the Serbian, the Greek and the Swedish one... and his English accent is terrible! if you haven't watched the Russian final, believe me(!!!) he killed the song! so many other countries deserve to win! but anyway...

Arian Khenefeld [26089]
Thu 8 May 2008 17:03:28

This is really funny! His spanish is decent. By contrast, his english is hopeless. Maybe he should consider singing in russian or in spanish or in both.

Jonny K [46883]
Thu 8 May 2008 16:49:16

Sorry Russia, I am not a big fan of your song :(

But good luck anyway and Russia could even win! ;) :D :L

Sounds like a good show is being planned by Russia- I look forward to the spectacle. This is one reason to watch the ESC: glamour, stunts and stinks.
