Divine #10 position in Italian charts
France: Sébastien Tellier conquers Italy
Italy has not participated in Eurovision Song Contest since 1997 but this year the Italian language is represented by Switzerland and San Marino in the contest, not to mention the Romanian entry which contains some Italian lyrics. Nevertheless, it is the French entry, Divine, by Sébastien Tellier, which conquered the Italian charts. The song actually has the divine 10th position in the top50 chart of the popular radio station DeeJay.
Besides the radio station there's also Deejay Tv, one of Sky Italia's channels, an Italian digital satellite platform, which broadcasts the popular music show 50 songs, playing the 50 top songs, every day.

Divine's great success is a bit weird since I think that he did not promote his song at all. I am not a Radio Deejay's great fan but by chance a couple of days ago I was listening to it when they passed Divine. Of course deejay did not mention at all about ESC. So be sure that even if Tellier or Meneguzzi or even San Marino should win the contest, Italy won't be back. It' not imaginable for our TV to send for two nights a show completely in another language, with unknown and funny singers, and with a risk to have to organize itself three similar shows next year.
Just about my tastes, France this year is not among my favourites. By the way: anyone can tell me which of the Big Four plus Serbia will vote in first and which one in second semifinal?
Divine is COOL and modern. I wonder how the performance will be...
France has one of the very best songs this year.....it's simply great!!
In fact, Divine is currently on the playlists of Studio Brussel, the VRT's more or less "alternative" radio station, too. Funny, because it's not exactly the place where you'd expect a to hear Eurovision entry. Personally, I like Divine a lot, it's a likeable feel-good song in a genre the French are pretty good at. I fear it's going to be totally ignored in the voting, though. Not cheesy, schlagery or (pseudo-)traditional enough for the Eurovoters to notice it. But it's nice to see France return to quality songs, even if they fail to pick up any points.
i agree that its a pity for france that italy doesnt participate. this is the best song in this years esc imo. good luck france!
@ Zingo, what doest it have to do with this topic?
Aren't we supposed to stick to the topic???
I think the French entry is quite good, but not as good as last year. Best of luck to France.
Btw, Sébastien Tellier gave a concert in Stockholm tonight.
Zingo, I am sure Italy will vote for Sweden...
Oh sorry everyone, i wanted to try the link with the UBB code but I didn't realized I was in this article

Pity that Italia does not participate anymore. His chart success could be translated in serious points in the final.
Hope France does well this year.
Off course this song will do well in charts
This electro-disco songs always do well in Music Charts specially around Europe
but is definitely not a song to be performed in a televised music festival
even if Italy was participating.. it would have given them points
Go France! One of the very best songs this year!
YAY!
Oh, how I wish France would make top10. But I don't see it happening.
I'll be voting for them like crazy though in the final.
Shame for France that Italy doesn't participate anymore, cos Italy probably would have given france high points this year
just to clarify...RadioDeeJay is one of the most popular radios in Italy. Being high in its chart means being in heavy rotation.
So i guess that for the French entry is quite good (though useless in terms of votes, also because SanMarino is voting with a jury).
For the general feeling about Italy...true lot of interest...i'm waiting to see if by chance Meneguzzi is going to be covered a lot by MTV Italia since he's often there.
Strange tastes the Italians have bless them.
This is great news! I haven't listened to RadioDeejay for some time but I know this chart very well. This radio station is one of the most important ones in Italy.
As far as I know we don't have a Singles Chart anymore in Italy, as by now it's practically impossible to find singles to buy in CD shops. So even the official chart is based, I think, on legal downloads or on radio broadcasts. Being so high on Radio Deejay's chart means that it IS a hit. Well done Sebastien!
Fantastic song from France - it actually sounds like it was made this century!!!
This is just one radio chart not the main chart of all. So I would hardly think of it as a hit in Italy, for now.
Wooooo well done Sebastien!
France doesn't have one of my favourite songs this year, but they deserve to do really well, so Good luck to France from the UK!
good question, I mean I doubt the relevance of some radio station airplay. Italy has got an official single chart like most west-european countries. And as long as he does not appear on it, there is no such thing as conquer.
WOW i thought it was the Italian Singles Chart.
Well it's a radio chart only lol
France has a decent entries this year and i hope they won't be underrated again. Sebastien needs an outstanding perfomance !
Great news! And he is a wonderful live artist. I went to his concert in Oslo last week, and it was magic!
It seems that italians lost their taste...
Finally a decent entry makes a hit...if only it could have the same effect in the narrow-minded cheesy tastes of eurofans.
Merci beaucoup.... Vive la France....
