Music for a good cause
UK: West End Eurovision 2008
West End Eurovision 2008 features performances of Eurovision evergreens by companies including Avenue Q, Buddy, Disney's The Lion King, The Phantom of the Opera, Mamma Mia!, Grease and Wicked. One act will be the night's winner and this will be decided by the audience through sms voting from the hall in this "biggest, campest, glitziest party in Theatreland."
The show will take place on Thursday 15th May 2008 , at 11.30pm, at the Piccadilly Theatre ,Denman Street, London. Tickets cost £25 - £15, £40 for Premium Tickets which include pre-show champagne. The money raised for TheatreMAD is directed to those living with HIV, AIDS and other critical illnesses who are most in need.

thanks jonny i have been a volunteer for the last couple of years and go to all of their events,the chairman david does all this in his spare time he is currently in the lion king, and all his free time is devoted to raising money which he does without payment. i am going round all the bars and theatres tomorrow with the psoters for west end eurovision, so gonna get my hiking boots on lol, they are also planning late night shows of some top musicals with tickets half the normal price, and also late night cabarets, the last one starred leane jones and ben ellis from hairspray kerry ellis from wicked, and cast members from many othher shows, they really are fantsatic shows,keep checking their site for future events too

Why should western europe form a bloc??? To vote for the **** we see from Spain and the United Kingdom... oh and Ireland? Spain and the United Kingdom vote for Eastern Europe anyway because the songs are much better and anyway I think Eastern Europe will vote for the better songs from Western europe like Portugal (Andrej Babic) and Germany!!!
This is what annoys me about people on esctoday. This may not be a high profile news story, but it is promoting an event where all of the proceeds go to charity and helping fight HIV & Aids. Yet there are still people posting messages that slag off the UK, and saying this story is worthless, it makes me pissed

I know that fact very well but I don't care. I hate jury- voting and I'd rather see all my favourites in the last places than have jury- voting! The people watching the show have to decide, that's what democracy is about (yes, I know... political voting bla bla...). Jury- voting is the least democratic. Some moronic pseudo- experts deciding the winner, that's WAY worse than bloc- voting!
@ Florian G: You cannot possibly be suggesting that Daz and Scooch were any worse than some of the guff that made it in to the top 10 solely on neighbour voting. A bottom 4 placing is mostly certainly not what Andy Abraham deserves. Once again another anti-UK jibe that bares no relation to the quality of our entry.
And Turkey would have been 14th instead of 4th, can I be more clear my friend ? The only thing for sure is the winner, because you can not win on diaspora/neighbour votes alone. But fe when Turkey won, and Belgium ended second with 2 points difference, I am pretty sure folowing this, Belgium would have won.
Florian it's not just UK you know.... If last year they would have taken 50 televote/50 prof juries, Germany would have been 6 instead of 19th.... You get the grip ?
im not sure what songs are gonna be performed but as for the cast of mamma mia i think they might surprise you, and abgel of doubt said exactly the same when the article about ani lorak being an ambassador for hiv and aids, so i think we know what his problem is

Get over yourself! If Jessica Garlick would have had a bad result, I could perfectly understand when people are upset but Scooch and Daz got what they deserved and Andy will get what he deserves!
@ Angel of Doubt can I just ask how a charity event which is raising awareness and funds for a charity, where the West End artists are singing classic Eurovision Songs is destroying ESC. I really think you need to check yaself before you make such a comment

I agree! The 'big 4' should play a 'east' Europe's game and form a bloc! Then the EBU see televoting is a problem!
Sounds like a wonderful event. Any clues as to which songs each cast will be singing? Will "Mamma Mia" be obvious and sing Waterloo?

I agree my friend, it's just very upsetting. We pay for the restaurant, but we can not eat ourselves. How unfair is that ?
@ Marc. Those who bemoan the UK's Big 4 status really aren't worth getting all upset about. It's time we started playing them at their own game. We have millions of UK citizens scattered across Europe whether on holiday or living (Spain, France etc). Let's push for them to use their power and vote for the UK whilst abroad. It worked in Malta last year. A few more douze points from Spain, Portugal, France, Greece, Cyprus and that'll show the voting system for what it is. It's time the EBU brought in one phone, one vote.

I am so fed up with nonsense coming from certain people here. Sometimes I really do have the impression that half of the people here are little kids. Don't they realise that certain message are extremely offensive and hurtfull. Messages like a certain Tam (Turc), who points a finger at UK for sending crap and that's reason why always in bottom. Turkey sent same crap my friend, but because of generosity of all those European countries who let you in to get a better life, you have the chance to vote for your own country. This is a situation just not acceptable. So every year Turkey goes through because of diasporavotes, I wouldn't be too proud of it my friend. What's the fun in going through on CHEATING.... because that's what it is. Same for Armenia,Russia and some other countries.... Be very proud and keep on teasing us, the big 4, like you call them... One day the bill will be presented. But I think that will be the end of Eurovision.

it can only take place at that time as all the performers are performing beforehand and the musical grease is at the same theatre and they dont finish their performance till 10.20pm its should be a great night for fans of esc and musical theatre fans, as some of the best performers that are currently in the west end will be performing,
