The first show of Misión Eurovisión has revealed the names of the first five qualified artists for the semi-final. Santa Fe, Nessa, Miguel Cañadas (chosen by the public), Gerard and Poker (appointed by the two advisors, Massiel and Mikel Herzog) are already qualified. esctoday.com analyses these entrants.

SANTA FE

One of the most alternative entrants at this first Gala was amongst the top positions from the beginning of the voting round. The four Cuban boys rocketed up the leaderboard and once ahead, extended their lead to win with 195 points. They sang the song Esto es pa' ti, a reggae / hip hop style that has become very popular since the summer amongst the Spanish people. Santa Fe received 12 points from 8 Spanish regions (Asturias, Balearic Islands, Cantabria, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Extremadura, Galicia and Navarra).

NESSA

A powerful gospel singer's voice is Nessa's most relevant vocal attribute. This girl who comes from the southern town of Almeria performed Anastacia's I'm outta love, a song that fits her voice quality properly. Finishing as runner-up with 149 points and direct qualifying for the semi-final is Nessa's reward tonight. Nessa was the favourite entrant for the viewers from her home region of Andalusia who awarded her 12 points. She received 10 points from the Balearic Islands, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León and Melilla.

MIGUEL CAÑADAS

Miguel Cañadas, who sang A puro dolor, maybe the most famous theme of Son By Four, was placed 3rd in the final chart with 141 points. He was since the beginning of the show, one of the public's favourite contestants, both inside and outside the studios. His good voice and performance got 12 points from Murcia, Valencia (his bithplace) and from the mobile phone vote covering the whole of Spain.

GERARD

The youngest competitor tonight impressed the public with his special performance, different from the others: the song Sorry seems to be the hardest word, self-accompanied on piano, brought Gerard to the 8th position. However, Massiel and Mikel Herzog, the two advisors, decided to rescue him and reward him with a place in the semifinal. 12 points from Catalonia was his highest votes.

POKER

Hearts, spades, diamonds and clubs appeared on stage on 13th place, and it seems that this number brought good luck to them. An original performance, with the faces of the group members full of makeup emulating the four card suits, received 97 points in total to take 4th position. Although many points behind the three automatic qualifiers, Massiel and Herzog put them into the list of qualified artists in the end. Bon Jovi's song It's my life was their elected theme for tonight's show.

Other entrants received good scores: Baltanás, one of the public's favourites, got 92 points (5th place, and just two points behind Poker); and Amaia Saizar, ex-Bravo (Spain 1984), got 81 (6th).

On the other hand, the last three classified were Cristina Conde, Anabel's sister, who received 30 points; and Katia Ballester and Juan Ikaro, both with 22 points and closing the chart.

With the second show of Misión Eurovisión finished, we now know which artists have qualified for the semi-final to be held on February 6th. As we did last week, esctoday.com analyses the performances of the 5 entrants who have moved on to the next round: Nazaret, Mirela & Montse Mallorquín (selected by the viewers) and Paco Arrojo & Paraelissa (designated by Massiel and Mikel Herzog, advisors for the Spanish preselection process).
NAZARET
With a powerful performance of the Mónica Naranjo's song Sobreviviré, Nazaret rocked the stage tonight. Since the beginning of the voting round, this singer born in Ceuta was placed amongst the first places in the scoreboard. Nazaret was awarded 171 points, receiving maximum points from Aragon, Cantabria, Murcia, Navarre, Basque Country, La Rioja and Ceuta.

MIRELA
The youngest entrant tonight (16 years old) chose the most ESC-related song for her performance tonight: My number one, Helena Paparizou's winner from 2005. Mirela, who took part at Eurojunior 2004, the Spanish preselection for Junior Eurovision 2004, earned 164 points and became the runner-up tonight. Mirela, born in Aranjuez a town in greater Madrid, received 12 points from both Galicia and Madrid.

MONTSE MALLORQUÍN
A good voice, a powerful performance and an effective song were the main Montse's weapons to secure third place and the last spot qualified for the semi-final. Singing an arabic-inspirated song, Ojos así, from Shakira, gave Montse 104 points. Both archipelagos, the Balearic and the Canary Islands, gave her their 12 points, as well as the Autonomous Town of Melilla.

PACO ARROJO
Only 4 points separated Paco from the podium tonight. In the end, the advisors, Massiel and Mikel Herzog, decided to rescue him and reward him with a place in the semifinal. Paco has been devoted to music for 10 years and, as he said in his presenting video, representing Spain in Eurovision would be a dream come true for him. Te quiero, te quiero earned 100 points, mostly from Extremadura (his native region), the 2 Castiles, Madrid and the Canary Islands.

PARAELISSA
The name of this group is taken from the Beethoven's composition For Elise, but their style is quite different. This rock band was not amongst the public's favourites tonight: Paraelissa only ranked 8th with 72 points--but the advisors clearly liked them. Castile-La Mancha and Madrid rewarded their performance, No me crees, with 10 points each .

On the other hand, the refreshed band La Década Prodigiosa (Spain 1988's heirs) was not lucky in the tonight's show and only could arrange 69 points, being placed on the

The Spanish public broadcaster, TVE, has aired a great show tonight. The Misión Eurovisión 3rd heat started at 22:00 CET and finished at 1 o'clock. Within these three hours, the 15 songs initially confirmed as candidates to represent Spain this year were shorlisted to ten as esctoday.com reported. And, as every week, five out of the 15 performers qualified for the next round. These are their names:

NASH
Nash rocked the stage. This short sentence resumes what happened tonight at Los Álamos (Madrid). 216 points confirmed them as the absolute champions at this 3rd Gala. These boy band, formed by Basti, Ony, Javi y Mikel, became famous last year, specially amongst the teenager public, with its debut album Capaz de todo. Nash, performing Stand by me, reached the top of the scoreboard since the beginning of the voting round. 12 of the 17 Spanish Autonomous Communities, plus the mobile phone calls, gave these guys the maximum votes: 12 points.

YANIRA FIGUEROA
With only 17 years old, Yanira, born in Alhaurín de la Torre (Málaga), showed her powerful vocal attributes tonight, getting a huge support from the public, that rewarded her 165 points and the runner-up position in the final chart. Yanira is not an unknown face in Spain: she won the contest Gente de Primera, aired in 2005. Extremadura and La Rioja gave her 12 points, and many other regions, 10 points.

MARTA LLENAS
Marta Llenas closed the running order in this Misión Eurovisión 3rd heat. This 30-year-old artist, born in Gerona, chose Proud Mary for her performance tonight. Would be better to say Proud Marta due to her fantastic interpretation, that earned 139 points coming from all the Spanish regions. Her highest votes were given by Castile-La Mancha and Madrid (10 points each).

REBECA
The most famous and well-known entrant was not the public's favourite competitor tonight. This Catalan singer was placed in 4th position with 125 points, not enough to be automatically qualified for the next round. Nevertheless, her musical experience and powerful performance were valorated by Massiel and Mikel Herzog, who rewarded her with the classification. Rebeca, who reached the fame in the 90s with her hit Duro de pelar, chose the theme she submitted to TVE last year in her attempt to represent Spain in Athens, Qué no daría yo.

SHEILA RODRÍGUEZ
7th at the final scoreboard and rescued by the jury. Sheila, who comes from Barcelona, chose a great theme for her performance tonight: Barbra Streisand's Woman in love. Although the public did not give her enough support, Massiel and Mikel Herzog considered that Sheila deserved to go through and qualify the next round. Sheila got 79 points in total, many of them coming from La Rioja and Catalonia (10 points each).

On the other hand, the Argentinian singer Lourdes Savarese closed the tonight's scoreboard with only 4 points. As well, unlucky were Luis Fierro (a well-known singer in the 70s), the vocal group Just 4 Voices or the duo made up by Cristina Conde (Anabel's younger sister) and Rafael Artesero (composer of the 2005 and 2006 Andorran entries, as well as La Reina de la Noche and Ley le lee, two of the 10 qualified songs tonight).

The Misión Eurovisión puzzle is already completed. TVE has aired tonight the last qualifying Gala, in which 12 soloists and 4 duets performed on stage. The Spanish public chose three of the soloists and the only duet going through the semifinal via televote, whilst the organization appointed one of the soloists. esctoday.com offers you all the fortunate names with a brief overview for each.

GERARD AND MIRELA (duet)
The youngest participants at the duets modality, both already individually qualified, had a great chance to show their aptitude once again. They did not waste their opportunity and gained the most of the public support. Their performance, a Spanish version of Mariah Carey's Without you, beated the other potent duos: Two Heaven (Baltanás and Mercedes Sayas), Rebeca & Paco Arrojo and Rut Marcos & Yolanda.

MERCHE LLOBERA
Definitely, the youngest competitors have been the public's favourites tonight. Merche Llobera, who hails from Madrid, is 19 years old and has participated at other programmes aired time ago by TVE: Veo, veo and Música Sí. She has also experience in the interpretation world, having given her voice to some characters in TV series: CSI or Falcon Beach, to name a few. Her performance, Si tú no estás aquí, gained 191 points and was placed first since almost the beginning of the show. Balearic Islands, the Basque Country, La Rioja, Ceuta and Melilla rewarded her with 12 points.

FRAN
Fran Pahino was born in Valladolid 31 years ago and is descended from a family of artists. He has been devoted to music for 12 years, and has developed his career as a soloist and as a member of different bands. Fran climbed positions tonight and became the runner-up with 154 points. Most of them came from Castile and Leon (his homeland), Galicia, Murcia and Navarre.

MIRIAM ROCA
Miriam is 19 years old and comes from Mequinenza, a town in Aragon. She started developing her musical abilities at the age of 5 and now she lives in Barcelona. 113 points, the third place and, therefore, the direct qualification for the semifinal are her reward tonight. Aragon, Miriam's natal Autonomous Community, gave her 12 points.

LUIS AMANDO
There has been a novelty about the organizers' election tonight. Massiel and Mikel Herzog have not pronnounced the name of the rescued competitor, but it has been given to the host Paula Vázquez inside a closed envelope. Luis Amando has been the name that has completed the list of qualified acts for the semifinal. After being placed 8th with 85 points, Misión Eurovisión bore his experience, especially at musical plays, in mind.
