Biography
MUSICAL BACKGROUND: A successful singer songwriter Mickey is influenced by Sting, Paul Brady and other great songwriters. Mickey began his career with local band, Kryptic, at the age of 15. Mickey then decided to go it alone some years ago and recorded his first solo demo in 2001 "Plugged Unplugged".
Now a full time musician Mickey gigs regularly in Dublin and all over the country. He has supported artists such as Jack L, Kieran Goss, The Four Of Us, John Spillane and Aslan. He also travelled to the infamous Tin Pan South Festival in Nashville, Tennessee two years in a row and has toured extensively in Spain, Germany, Belgium and Holland.
COMPETITION: A member of IMRO Mickey has won many awards for his singing. Most notably he reached the final of the Hot Press unplugged Song of the Year two years ago. He has also appeared on RTÉ television shows
Go For It and Live @ 3 with his band Kyrptix and this is just the tip of the iceberg so far.
HOBBIES: When not singing and gigging all over the country, Mickey likes to keep active. He loves swimming and cycling even though as a child he nearly drowned when his two friends threw him into a pool knowing he couldn't swim. While he was in the water he remembers having an out of body experience which he found really spookey!
SPORTS FANATIC: A big soccer fan, Mickey likes nothing better than watching Liverpool play in the Premiership. He's also a massive fan of the Irish Team as Shay Given is a school pal and when he's home in Lifford he enjoys a big sing song with Mickey in his local pub.
