Biography
Esther Hart (her stage name) was born on 3 June 1970 into a musical family. Not only Esther herself, but also her parents, two sisters and three brothers were actively or passively involved in music. As a child, Esther sang in school choirs and later in a school band.
Straight after high school, Esther went to the conservatory where she studied singing and light music. She graduated in 1994 as a qualified music teacher and performing artist.
Since then, Esther Hart has been involved in various aspects of music. She not only teaches at music schools but was appointed singing teacher at the Tilburg Rock Academy in early 2002. The Rock Academy trains students to become pop musicians or for other careers in the world of pop music.
Besides teaching, Esther Hart is also a performing artist. Her singing voice is best described as a smooth, distinct mezzo-soprano with a wide range and a soulful pop sound. She sings in various bands, both as a lead and backing vocalist. As a pop artist, Esther Hart sings various styles, from soul and funk to R&B and disco.
The Dutch entry for the Eurovision Song Contest, One More Night, was written by songwriters/composers Tjeerd van Zanen and Alan Michael. When Esther was asked to sing this song at the Contest, she was over the moon. After an exciting qualifying round, One More Night became the winning song at the Dutch finals on 1 March 2003, when Esther’s performance was voted the best by both the professional jury and the Dutch audience.
Esther Hart sees singing in the Eurovision Song Contest as a great challenge. Regardless of the outcome, Esther Hart’s future will always be in music. First and foremost, she wants to continue her singing career, but she also wants to pass on her expertise to people who are just as passionate about music as she is.
