For the first time since 1994, RUV decided to hold a national final again. The five music acts had to perform their entries in Icelandic (which was not obligatory for Stockholm) and the winner was chosen by televoting as a premiere. Einar & Telma won by a landslide, receiving more than three times the amount of points the runner-up received.
Hvert sem er (Anyway) was translated to Tell me! for the final in Stockholm. But not only the language of the song has changed: while the duo was all dressed in black in the national final (a black suit with a tie and a black evening dress), they would be wearing much more colourful outfits in Stockholm.
Both in the national final and in the final, Eyfi Kristjansson was backing singer for Einar & Telma. In 1991, he represented Iceland in Rome together with Stefan Hilmarsson; he also was a backing singer on various occasions.
