Biography

Maarja-Liis Ilus was born in Tallinn in 1979, and just as many of the participants in Eurosong, she also has musician parents who let her participate in their wonderful world. At the age of four she performed the main role in the musical film Lucky Fellow. Later, she won Estonian TV's song competition for children several times, and toured throughout Europe with the television's Children's Choir. Maarja-Liis is now a well-known pop star in Estonia, holding up to three concerts a week. She plans to study law in the future.

As opposed to Maarja-Liis, Ivo Linna has a long career as a singer behind him. He was born in 1949 on the little island of Saaremaa, and started his musical career in an unknown guitar band. Today, the whole of Estonia has heard of the band Rock Hotel and the name of Ivo Linna. He has recorded 10 albums and is a well-known host of radio and television programmes.

Priit Pajusaar was born in 1964 and later graduated from the Estonian Music Academy as a music teacher and choir director. He worked for choirs for several years, but now earns his living as both a composer and a sales-manager.

Kaari Sillamaa is also a music teacher, but is nine years older than Priit. She is a "woman with three faces": for the last two years, she has been the director of a school of fine arts for children; she is a piano player and backup vocalist in the rock-band The Names; and last but not least, for the last ten years she has been the director of the Columbina Music Theatre (for children). Kaari has written over 100 texts, including two children's operas and an oratorio, Key to Paradise. [Notes from the Official 1996 Programme by NRK]
