Melih Kibar was born in Istanbul in 1951. At the age of eight he attended the Conservatory there and then went on to graduate as a chemical engineer from Bosphorus University. He was inspired to pursue his musical talent after the national success of his song writing during his university days. He has since participated in many international music festivals. In the 1986 ESC his song Halley represented Turkey in Norway. Klips ve Onlar took his song to the highest position for a Turkish entry yet, the 9th position.
