Biography
MeKaDo consists of Me (Melanie Bender), Ka (Kati Karney) and Do (Dorkas Kiefer) - three former solo artists who have teamed up for this year's contest. Melanie Bender (daughter of Steve Bender and Edina Popp, members of 1979's German entry Dschinghis Khan) lives in Munich, plays several instruments and began singing at the age of five; Kati Karney, born in Frankfurt, has played piano since the age of five, and started singing studies at 8; Dorkas Kiefer, who lives in Hessen, started singing at 9, and is an experienced actress.
MeKaDo will have a backing group of Rhonda Heath (keyboards), Barbara Margeth (drums) and Jerry Rix, son of famous Dutch instrumentalist Toby Rix (keyboards).
Ralph Siegel comes from a long line of composers and singers, and began composing at the age of 14. He has studied in Paris, Nashville and New York where he spent several years.
Bernd Meinunger took a masters degree in economics before dedicating his time to writing lyrics. [Notes from the Official 1994 Programme by RTÉ]
