Biography
Katri-Helena Kaloja has been the idol of the Finns for over 30 years and this year has been voted Finland's most popular female singer. She made her first record in 1963 and in 1967 was awarded the first of her 10 Gold Discs. Her third Platinum Disc was awarded in 1993. In Finland, Katri-Helena is a UNICEF Ambassador of Goodwill. Katri-Helena represented her country in the 1979 Eurovision Song Contest in Jerusalem.
Matti Puurtinen is a highly talented and versatile musician. As well as conducting and arranging he has composed a large number of television and radio scores and has also written for symphony orchestras. Matti composed the Finnish entry "La Dolce Vita" in 1989 for the Eurovision Song Contest and he features this evening as arranger and composer of 'Tule Luo'.
Jukka Saarinen is a finance journalist. He also writes about light music and since the early 1980's has been providing lyrics for front-line Finnish artists.
Olli Ahvenlahti, conductor for Finland, was appointed the Finnish Broadcasting Company's light music conductor in 1990. He is also a successful pianist and composer. [From the 1993 Programme by RTÉ]
