Biography
'Modern Times' is the name of the singing partnership of Simone Weis and Jimmy Martin. Simone has recently recorded her debut record and is currently preparing her first album. Jimmy Martin released his first single in 1985 and by 1990 had produced his second solo album. He has been number one in the Luxembourg charts and has been awarded a double gold disc for a song he composed for Christmas 1992. Jimmy has performed with a number of top bands and with Patrick Hippert wrote the entry for Luxembourg.
Patrick Hippert studied piano, violin and guitar and when at the age of 17 he became fascinated with synthesizers it was just a short step to composing. He has written a great many songs as well as film music and music for advertisements. In 1991, he participated for the first time as composer in the Eurovision Song Contest, writing Sarah Bray's "Un Baiser Volé". In his early career he had performed in a rock band with Jimmy Martin, and now in 1993 together with Jimmy he has written the music and lyrics of this song.
Francis Goya of "Nostalgia" fame and currently touring as part of the duo Goya & Carmina will direct the orchestral accompaniment to the Simone Weis/Jimmy Martin duo. [From the 1993 Programme by RTÉ]
