Biography

Nina was born in Barcelona in 1966. At 13, she began to sing on radio programmes, and three years later made her debut in front of an audience. In 1985 she joined the "Janio Marti Orchestra and Chorus" and toured much of Europe. In 1987, she became a vocalist with "Orquesta Caravana" (recently re-named "Orquesta de Xavier Cugat"), the most traditional orchestra in Catalonia. It was Cugat who arranged for her to appear at a popular TV show, and as a result she became a regular hostess on the programme.

Juan Carlos Calderón was born in Santander and became interested in music as a young boy. He is a composer, arranger, producer, conductor, as well as a jazz performer. In 1973, his Eurovision composition "Eres Tú" became a world hit and received the ASCAP award in Nashville, Tennessee. Top stars have performed his songs, among them Sheena Easton, Herb Alpert, Sergio Mendes, Ray Conniff, Percy Faith, Placido Domingo, Johnny Mathis and Laura Branigan. He is conductor for the Spanish entry "Nacida para Amar", having conducted orchestras and recorded in top European and U.S. studios. [Notes from the Official 1989 programme]
