Biography
Pan was founded in 1988 by conductor and composer Timur Selçuk. Hazal Selçuk and Arzu Ece are the soloists, while Sarper Semiz and Vedat Sakman are the vocalists of the group. Hazal Selçuk, daughter and student of Timur Selçuk, was born in Paris in 1973. A 2nd year student at the Austrian High School in Istanbul, she has been in the school choir for 6 years. She takes lessons in solfeggio, piano and singing.
Arzu Ece was born in Istanbul in 1963. She obtained many prizes for singing in the Kusadasi, Antalya and Bratislava Song Contests as well as the previous Eurovision selections in Turkey.
Vedat Sakman, born in 1949, has been working as a professional composer and interpreter for 20 years. Sarper Semiz, born in Adana in 1959, graduated from the textiles department of the Istanbul School of Fine Arts and is presently working in an advertising agency as production director.
Timur Selçuk, who is conductor and composer, is also arranger and lyricist. He was born in Istanbul in 1945. Graduating from Galatasaray High School, he attended the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory and the Paris School of Music. He founded the Istanbul Chamber Orchestra and acted as the Musical Director of the Ankara Art Theatre. He also teaches in the Modern Music Centre which he founded.
