Biography

Tommy Nilsson is 29. In 1975, he founded "Horizont" which signed a recording contract with CBS. In 1980, Tommy began a solo career, working and living until 1984 in France, Japan and the U.S.A. He recorded 2 solo albums, the first selling 200,000 copies. The single "No Way No How" sold over a million. He returned to Sweden to do studio work and join the group "Easy Action", which split up in 1987. In 1988, Tommy was "Artist of the Year". Currently he is writing material for a new LP to be released this autumn.

Håkansson, Norell and Bard have worked together before. Håkansson and Norell were the backbone of "Secret Service" (hit: Flash In The Night). Ola Håkansson has been famous since the 60s, when his group "Ola and the Janglers" was popular. Today he is one of Sweden's busiest record producers and song writers. He also remixed Pan's "Bana Bana", this year's Turkish entry. Tim Norell, also of "Secret Service", is classically trained. "Oh Susie", written by Norell and Håkansson, was an international hit and they have become 2 of Scandinavia's most successful film music composers. Alexander Bard, (originally an economist) became known as a disco transvestite. He now works internationally as a performance and video artist, song-writer and producer. He also manages a band named "Army of Lovers".

Anders Berglund was born in Stockholm in 1948, and has played piano since the age of 7. He was a touring musician in Sweden (most noticeably with the group Blue Swede, in which was also Björn Skifs (Eurovision Song Contest 1978 and 1981)). Since 1975 he has been a freelance record producer, arranger, conductor, composer and pianist. This is the 7th time he has conducted the Swedish entry. [Notes from the Official 1989 Programme]
