Biography

Sherisse Laurence is Canadian, born in Selkirk, Manitoba in a close Ukrainian family. She started studying piano at age six and was soon writing her own songs and developing her magnificent vocal style. When Sherisse was 12 she moved with her parents and her 4 brothers and sisters to Winnipeg. There she sang in small theatre productions, operettas, barbershop quartets and on local radio.

Sherisse was barely into her 20's when she won an award in the prestigious American Song Festival, with her song winning over thousands of entries from professional songwriters all over the world. This prompted the young performer to move to Toronto and make her mark in the entertainment world.

After a year of pounding on doors and going to auditions, Sherisse was chosen from 400 applicants to co-star in the TV show Circus. In the last few years, Sherisse has also received national TV exposure from her numerous TV commercials and guest appearances on different important TV shows. In the meantime she recorded also an album Sybarite.

Sherisse Laurence is a very warm person, full of insight, and a very dedicated artist who applies a great deal of effort to her craft. She carries herself as a professional in every sense of the word. And like all professionals, she is always ready to conquer new challengers and meet new triumphs.

On April 23rd it's the 39th birthday of Rolf Soja. As composer, arranger and producer he leads many groups and performers to the way of success. With his compositions and productions for the duo Baccara (Luxemburg's entry into the Eurovision Song Contest for 1977) he enters into the international charts. Nana Mouskouri, Mireille Mathieu, Claude François, Gitte and Leslie Hamilton performed songs by RoIf Soja. In 1983 he went to Canada and since 1984 he produces records and runs his own studio there.

Frank Dostal was born on December 12, 1945 in Flensburg (Germany). He is married, has two children, a dog, 12,000 records and 4,000 books. For 15 years he has lived in Hamburg. Songwriter and producer, Frank Dostal is with RoIf Soja co-author of all the Baccara worldhits including Yes Sir, I Can Boogie and Sorry I'm A Lady.

Alain Garcia was born in 1948 in Audenge, in Gironde (France). In 1983 his first song Si La Vie Est Cadeau was the Luxembourg entry and was with 143 points the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest - Grand Prix. In 1984 he won the Grand Prix of the Japanese Television in Tokyo for his song Michael. In 1985 Alain produced Claude Vallois with whom he wrote Blues melody. The song was very soon a hit in Canada. In 1986 he wrote Jeane Manson's latest hit, Ne dis rien. [Notes from the official 86 programme by NRK]
