Eurovision Song Contest 1984

Ireland returned to the contest, finishing second, while Greece and Israel withdrew. It was Remembrance Day in Israel so IBA decided not to send a song. Sweden won the Eurovision Song contest 1984 with the happy song Diggi-loo diggy-ley. This song became a real evergreen, but the Italian song I treni di Tozeur became a huge hit all over Europe although it only became 5th. The song had a little opera-part in it, which was song in German. The Irish song was written by former and future Eurovision winner Johnny Logan under his real name Sean Sherrard.
