Biography

Nana Mouskouri (born 13/10/'36 in Athens, Greece) studied music at the conservatorium, while at the same time starting a career as a jazz singer. Fate decided something else and Nana found herself in the middle-of-the-road circuit, scoring a huge hit in Germany in 1961 with Weiße Rosen aus Athen. Her fame spread and Nana was already a celebrated star all over the world when she entered the Eurovision Song Contest. After the Eurovision Song Contest Nana continued to have hits well into the 80s with songs like The Three Bells, Only Love and the Mark Knopfler composition Why Worry? Since 1994 Nana has been a member of the European Parliament.
