I have been a fan of the contest for as long as I can remember and I listen to Eurovision songs on a regular basis. My favourite decade for songs was the 1990s.

I greatly regret the introduction of the free language rule in 1999. Although it is fairer, the contest lost much of what I enjoyed most. 1999 began a very bleak few years in the contest with many songs sounding fairly similar. Things have improved a bit since then, but I still miss most songs not being in English.

I thought the introduction of televoting was a great idea, but I no longer have any faith that the system can rank the songs fairly by quality; neighbourly and diaspora voting give some countries a significant advantage, while others lose out, even when they send very good songs. I welcome the return of juries to the contest, although they do not have a 50\\% impact, as the name suggests, and some are showing the same bias that we have seen in the televoting year after year.

I have no time for people who just wave their own flag endlessly, or those who throw all their toys out of the pram when someone says something negative about a song or performer from their country - grow up!
