My point-of-view Eurovision Song Contest Story!!!!

Overview of 50s and 60s: Regarding the winning song to be honest most of the times I had a different point of view with juries. Only in 1969, 1965, and 1964 I was consistent. Interestingly in 1967 I awarded the victory to a song that fianlly missed the top 10, this incident will never occure in future. Also these deacades are dominated by the United Kingdom (6 victories) followed by Italy (4 victories) and then France. UK has been always in my top 10, reaching also my top 2 from 1959 to 1964!!! (4 times winner and 2 times runner up). The reason for this, I guess, is do to the simple, catchy and happy songs UK used to send, while in my opinion France and Italy should considered as master countries of classy music with well qualified performers, who simply set the scene!
Austria received some top3 which is very interesting since as you will see in future time this country usaully fails to enter my top10 receiving again a top 5 placing not until 1989 (the last has been in 1966! Finland on their debut (1962) recieved an overwhelming fourth placing, which has been until know the best placing I gave to this country. Interesting is the fact that I have never awarded any Finnish entry with a top 5 placing since that year. To conclude with this deacades I beleive that the Italian entry of 1958 ''Nel blu di pinto di blu'' known also as ''Volare'', sang by Domenico Mondugno, was the best of this bunch of Eurovision contests.

Overview of the 70s: Along with Monaco United Kingdom has been my favorite country missing only one time my top 10. This happened in 1978 when I awarded them the 11th place. What strikes me more with UK this decade is that I still believe that it was inexcplicably overrated when it comes to the so many second and third palces they have recieved. On the other hand Monaco, however not awarding them with any victory, was a frequent top 10 country, with 3 succesive second places and thwo other 3rd places. As far as the winners is concrned I was almost consistent with the outcomne since olny in 1970 and 1977 I had a different opinion. As best entry of this deacade I still consider that of the UK in 1976, ''Save your kisses for me'' performed by the band of Brotherhood of Man. As best performer I consider Anna Marie David (Luxembourg 1973 and 1979). Israel Greece, Monaco, Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands reached my top3 for the first time, while every country reached at once my top 10 (apart from Denmark)! Ireland missed top10 only in one occasion. UK in this decade has broken another personal record since it managed to be in my top5 for seven consecutive years (1970-176)!!! Portugal still misses my top5 and top3 being the only country not to manage such a negative record, while Finland unlike the former decades fails to enter any top5 placing. Denmark in its only two partcipations in this decade fails to recieve even the 10th place.

Overview of 1980s: Israel and Yugoslavia (it returned to top 3 for a first time since 1968 in 1983) dominated my top10 list this decade, however Israel has never been placed as first( however they were nominate three times runner up)! Despite this, Israel missed my top10 only at once, this happened in 1981! Also this 80s saw a significant decrease of my taste as far as the most succesfull country of my 50s, 60s and 70s, UK. Still also I evaluate their many top3 placings (except the victory of 1981) as exaggeration. Interesting is the fact fact that almost all countries manged to enter my top10, top5 (apart from Portugal) and top3 (apart from Portugal and Greece) in at least one occasion! Turkey along with Iceland (they were everytime in my bottom 5), and Morocco have been the only countries not reach my top10! Finland would have their first top10 placing not until 2002, the last I did so was in 1977!! Cyprus on their debut decade managed to receive two second placings and a third. By far best performer was Celine Dion with her song '' Ne partez pas sans moi'' being also the best of this deacade. A splendid moment in the contest really! No inconsistency reagarding with the winning song!!!!! Despite this, I evaluate this decade to be a musical decadance for the contest something that countinues in the early 90s.

Overview of 1990s: Along with 70s the second half of the 1990s might be my best period of ESC ever. Ireland dominated this deacade with two victories being also the most frequent top5 country. Norway (two victories) received its best deacade since it was second after Ireland, this country was in my top 2 for three consecutive years (1993-1995) an incident that happened also in 60s and 50s with UK. France, although being frequently in my top3 receives its first ever victory while Italy managed to be my favorite for a first time since 1967!!! Poland on their debut received my ''douze points'' while Russia also managed on their first attempt to reach top3. Iceland in this deacade sees its first top10 placing along with a victory. Good news also for Turkey, Malta, Slovenia, Croatia and Estonia since they debuted my top10, top5 and top3 (Malta, Croatia and Slovenia). Bosnia and Herzegovina along with Hungary in their debuting decade saw a single top10 placing. Greece enters top three for a fisrt time since 1977! Portugal receives its best placing ranked fifht but still misses any top3 (the only country from the old members along with Finland). Belgium, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands all fail for a first time in a whole decade to enter my top 3 and top5. From these counries only The Netherlands entered the top5! The only countries not make it to top10 were Finland, FYR Macedonia, Lithuania, Romania, and Slovakia. As it happened in 50s, 60s and 70s there are three occasions of inconsistency reagarding the winner, this happened in 1991, 1993, 1994 and 1999. Ireland and Sweden were involved two times each. What a coincidence!! In 1995, 1997 all my top10 countries entered the top ten. Also my top5 of 1997 was he same with the actual result. This happened for the first time. By far best entry is ''Nocturne'' with Amina of France, 1991, being the best performer.

Overview of 2000s: A very strange and diverse decade which musically I consider to be a major regression if compared to the preceding decade, especially the years from 2004 and after. In terms of victories many countries were awarded my 12pts for a very first time while more than half times I was inconsistent with the winning song. Latvia on their debut received my 12pts. Estonia, Ukraine, Hungary, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria enter for a first time my top3. Also Armenia on their debuting deacade managed to enter also my top 5. First top10 placing for Moldova, Belarus, and Azerbaijan. After missing a decade with no top 3 or top 5 Denmark is back, Spain also after a decade recieves some top3 placings. Germany too after a decade is back to top5, but still they miss for a consecutive decade any top3. Belgium enters top3 for a first time since 1986! First top3 placings for Turkey and Malta. Lithuania, Slovakia and FYR Macedonia still missing my top 10 along with the newcomers Montenegro, Albania, Georgia, San Marino, Czech Republic, Andorra and the returning principality of Monaco. ¯¿½¯¿½ull points for a first in a whole decade for Austria. An old member, the Netherlands fails for a consecutive decade to enter top3 but for a first time in a whole decade the miss ant top5. Portugal and Finland however awarded with some top10 placings still miss both any top3 placing in the history of the ESC! Switzerland, Israel, Ireland and UK, for a first time are absent from mt top3 or top5. By far best country is Greece, followed by Ukraine and then Russia. These countries, however being boosted by their neighbors or immigrants, managed to send the most catchy and adeguate entries for the nowaday demands of ESC. Best song of this decade is by far ''Lane Moje'' while the recent trilling performance of Patricia Kaas is considered as my personal best of this decade. Do to this along with a victory in 2002 set France along with Spain and Italy as the only old members to have top3 placings in my top3 since the biggining of ESC!!!!

So if it was up to me things would have been significantly different. UK is a ran away first with 9 victories followed by Italy with 6. Ireland and Norway follow with four victories. Israel stands alone with three victories while several countries have been awarded the trophy twice (Germany, France, Yugoslavia/Serbia and Montenegro/Serbia, The Netherlands, Spain and Greece. Old members such as Switzerland, Belgium will retain their victories while Sweden has only one instead of four. Single victory for new members such as Russia and Latvia (however with a different entry). Turkey and Denamrk retain their victory, however I have awarded a victory to countries that have not won the whole thing such as Poland, Iceland, Romania and Bulgaria. No victory for Ukraine, Estonia and Monaco countries that actually won ity for once. Croatia, Monaco and Cyprus, depsite being awarded with many second places failed to top my top10!

Some trivia

More second places: France 7!
More third places: France and Italy 4!
More top3 placings: UK 15!
More top5 placings: UK 24!
