My story

Laila ♥ RUSSIA 2010 ♪ ♫

I'm a 24 year old girl from Norway.

Eurovision has always been something most of my family watched every year, so I was exposed to it at an early age. My interest increased gradually over the years and internet made it a lot easier being a fan. :)

What attracted me to Eurovision was the friendly competition among all countries, being introduced to the different cultures, the good old postcards, the music and the languages which we rarely heard at all before internet-times.

I would love to have live music again in Eurovision and I would love to see more variety of music styles. I love when countries choose to sing in their own languages. I also think I am becoming more and more a fan of juries even if I don't always like the results.

The things I don't like about Eurovision is when people can't keep politics out of the picture, when people who say that certain music is not suitable for ESC, when there is too much focus on shallow stuff like hair, make-up and clothes, when there is "discrimination" against older singers or their natural appearance. I also can't stand rude people who can't accept my taste is not often mainstream/average pop.

Some people on this site like to think I am negative because I seemingly don't like many of the songs, but they deliberately choose to ignore all the positive I say - no one is ever ONLY negative. Also, consider this; ESC is filled with mostly average songs and a lot of bad. The good and very few amazing songs = the gems, are what makes it all worth it! Most songs I love never win the NF's and there is a whole world out there full of music. Eurovision music is less than 0,1\% of everything I like. So you think you know my taste in music based on some "negative" comments? You are sadly mistaken.

My rank for 2010:
Not many of my top favourites have won this year, but Russia really SAVED Eurovision completely for me this year as it was one of the few countries who got it right and chose the BEST song in their NF. Peter Nalitch is wonderful. It's hard to decide on the ranking of the songs I love and it feels cruel having to rank them low when I love them, but c'est la vie. My list is based on studio versions so if they suck live they will fall further down - like Moldova for instance.

I LOVE:

The 2010 Super Final:
Sorted by the ranking they would have gotten from me if the best songs from each NF had all won, even though it's really cruel to rank them when I liked so many of them. It also depends on my mood, so this is how I liked them at this moment. Also, these are not necessarily all the songs I liked from each country, I just had to choose one - the best one. That was tough for some. There were many great songs in the national finals this year. Hearts are for those I loved most and this list is based on studio versions, not live performances. Including the internally selected songs.
