My story
Thomas Cat
Hi,the value of points. For example, they can convert the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 12 points into respectively 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25 points.
first of all, I'm not a big Eurovision fan, I just like a few songs. So please don't get "emballed" at reading my profile.
I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the current point system has no sense with neighbouring and diaspora voting: the EBU has to take the real state of things into account and change
Countries where at least 50,000 votes are cast for all entries combined, as Sweden or the UK, would give 1 to 25 points with 100\\\\\\\\% televoting, and for countries where less than 50,000 votes are cast, a professional jury would either decide for the 1 to 15 points and televoters for the 16 to 25 points, or the jury would decide at 100\\\\\\\\% for the 1 to 25 points if the amount of televotes is really poor and providing random results.
Listening to traditional fans who don't want progress and say "But then the winner would have something like 600 points, it is not normal, bla bla bla" is not the solution.
Another idea: there would be Western and Eastern semis, thus 14 Western countries (with the Big Four) and 10 Eastern countries in the final. Indeed, with more Western countries in the final, diaspora voting will not have such a great influence on the results and there would be enough place for Western top entries to get top marks as the Eastern top entries would.
That said, I don't mean the 1-12 point system should be kept, my 1-15 and 16-25 point system should definitely be applied, since it is fairer, all parameters being considered.
Indeed, my proposals with the new value of points and the televoting-jury balance being determined according to the number of voters would not only enable to fight neighbouring and diaspora voting more efficiently, but also to give countries performing early more chances to win: the tenth most voted song would get 16 points instead of 1, whereas the first most voted song would get 25 instead of 12, and 16 in relation to 25 is more powerful than 1 in relation to 12.
Since the songs performed early are more difficult to keep in mind for the general audience and less likely to get the bigger points than songs performed at the end, provided the latter are good, it is necessary for the value difference in points between the voted entries to narrow.
Keep in mind that I didn't complain about the results from recent years; as a music professional with both Western and Eastern influences I find the results fair and Norway could win this year with a 100\% televoting system. It is only because of the people who don't want to find a solution with the 100\\\\\\\\% televoting system that I am offering some options for new voting and point allocation systems.
Otherwise, I am rather looking for chatting with symetrical and good-looking people who are between approximately 24 and 34 years old.
My rankings year by year:
1998:
1. Israel 2. Croatia (however, she lacked sex appeal) 3. UK 4. Malta
1999:
1. Croatia 2. Germany 3. Sweden (cheap entry, actually, when you compare it to Melodifestivalen hits in recent years)
2000:
1. Russia 2. Estonia (Poor live performance and early draw position are responsible for her not winning) 3. Denmark
2001:
1. Greece 2. France 3. Slovenia (she looked like the 'Coyote Ugly' bar leader)
2002:
1. Malta (but I could have put "no entry I liked that year" as well)
2003:
1. Turkey 2. Russia
2004:
1. Ukraine 1. Serbia & Montenegro 3. Greece
2005:
1. Greece 2. Malta
2006:
1. Finland 2. Russia 3. Belgium 4. Bosnia & Herzegovina 5. Romania
2007:
1. Serbia
2008:
1. Armenia (if she had performed near the end and after Russia and Greece, she would have won for sure, but maybe the draw was arranged for a Russian win, since they were longing to organize the event as soon as possible)
2009:
1. Norway 2. Azerbaijan 3. UK (I have the feeling it is very easy to guess the Top 3 this year, and the rest is crap; you'll see)
