My story
Denis Zach
ok... so: 1989 - mom making pancakes. i was five and nervous - where the heck was our song???, as we lived in yugoslavia at the time. and yes! we won! pancakes never tasted sweeter. and me got hooked onto eurovision.
1990: watched it with my cousin. used every opportunity to re-enact tajci's hajde da ludujemo and felt sorry for the spanish conductor. 1992: never saw it, was too war-torn to do so. 1993: hated grup shiru's costumes, but thought vrede was a good one. 1996: what the hell happened to israel? was the song really that bad? although i loved the interval act. should have won, if you ask me. 1997: slovenia and cyprus haunted me for days to come. 1998: VIVA LA DIVA. no further comment
1999: loved bosnia, loved germany, loved lithuania. 2000: roger pontare was great... 2005: my dearly beloved one almost fell for the feminnem blondies. yikes. loved the moldovan granny though. 2006: was a bit scared by the monsters, thought eddie butler sucked and wanted bosnia to win. 2007: a whole world yet to come!
i'm 22, i'm an all-sorts ethnical mish-mash, spread over austria, israel and what was once upon a time called yugoslavia - actually, croatia and bosnia, and the latter is where i officially come from. my favourite eurovision songs are khay by ofra haza (il83) followed by (in no necessary order) lapponia (fi77), boonika bate toba (md05), halayla (il81), shir habatlanim (il87), ein lied kann eine brücke sein (de75), lejla (ba06), putnici (ba99)...
this year's favourite? so far - voda (bg07). but let's see what israel chooses. and let's see whether bosnia is any good!
