Yassas, i'm Manos from Cyprus and I watch Eurovision since 1998
My favourite eurovision entries are a lot. But a special song that I admire is ''My impossible dream'' by Glennis Grace ( Netherlands 2005 ) and my favourite entry of national finals is the ''Make this night forever'' ( Denmark 2006 )
I strongly believe that Eurovision is being destroyed the last years. EBU should think seriously about bringing back the old system to the contest. This institution should work like its first years. Live orchestra, jury votes, - fair results. Honestly, isn't all those that made people love it? On the other hand, nowadays big number of people don't even know that Eurovision exist, because they don't care for this contest that ended up like this. Undoubtly eurovisionfans, and i put myself in those, during one country's voting, know their points before they are announced.
Cyprus in eurovision.. i could say i admire the try we give as a country, we kindly support our entries and we try to send different style every year and of course soemthing that will attract. Unfortunately, even we don't want to say Eurovision is not political contest, it is. And that's against Cyprus because as far as i see, eurovisionfans loved several songs we sent but we didn't manage to come better than 5th.
About the previous year.. I really loved the Dima Bilan's song the first time i heard it and i did wanted to win, but after all preparations started and as we read Dima was being so arrogant and selfish i just hated it. I really loved the Iceland, Serbian, Albanian, the Norwegian and Armenian songs! I was sad that Ukraine or Greece didn't win, because they did deserved better than Russia.
For 2009.. I'm really amazed and pleased that finally EBU returned at least the 50\%, it's the first step i must say. And the best part is the songs! I absolutely love each one for its reasons, all songs are sooooo good quality and can be called songs. ( there are exceptions though Latvia and Czech ) but by the time it's 2 songs out of 40, that's it a big improvement isnt it?
My personal favourites are a lot, but as a Eurovision Fan i have my top 5 . 1. Switzerland 2. Cyprus 3. Sweden 4. United Kingdom 5. Iceland.. but honestly i love all the songs!!
I find esctoday very interesting place for all esc fans, i met many friends from all over the countries especially one friend from Malta whom i can call part of my family! I appreciate the opportunity that Esctoday gives to all eurovision fans!
