My story
Chig Chig
Chig has written about Eurovision for GT magazine (formerly gaytimes) since 1998. He also has a blog, World Of Chig (chig.blogspot.com) which tends to be filled with Eurovision nonsense at this time of year. This year is no exception, with Chig meeting Scooch just before they flew out to Helsinki.
This year, Chig is running the UK50 vote on World Of Chig. You can vote on all the UK's fifty Eurovision entries, in a knockout contest which will go on until after Eurovision itself is finished. Please vote!
In other news... Chig gets irritated when people use the word 'semi-final' wrongly, when they really mean 'heats' or 'qualifier' (such as the Thursday night at Eurovision). Chig has been to seven Eurovisions in nine years: Birmingham 1998, Stockholm 2000, Tallinn 2002, Riga 2003 (when he decided it would be okay to go in an odd numbered year at last), Istanbul 2004, Kyiv 2005 and Athens 2006. He can't afford to be in Helsinki.
Chig is proud to have interviewed Dana International in her Tel Aviv flat* and Ruslana in her BBC dressing room, where there was lots of flesh on display. (None of it Chig's.) He also didn't mind being called a stalker by Nicki French from the stage at Oxford Pride on 2005. In a perfect Eurovision world, he would actually be stalking Michalis Hadjiyannis, David Civera, David Bisbal and that man with the dull song from Bulgaria in 2005. This year, he added Slovenia's Sebastian to that list, and he was believing that Malta could win Eurovision at last if they picked Vertigo, but not unless Olivia Lewis can be bothered to do some sort of performance to go with it.
Chig's musical tastes are many and varied, which is why he liked Silvia Nott, Lordi and Meribel Muursepp quite a lot last year, plus a whole load of the Swedish songs. In 2007, he is loving Mika's album, 'Life In Cartoon Motion' and The Ark's new album.
