My story

Matt Roberts

Hey! I first watched Eurovision when I was 8 in 1998. I remember it was in Birmingham. I remember Dana International's performance and I wanted her to win. I have been hooked ever since!
I think the appeal to me is the voting at the end, it is always exciting!

My favourite Eurovision has got to be Riga 2003! It was great, so many great contenders. I really enjoyed Sertab's entry but I really like Birgitta from Iceland! Of course though, my favourite was t.A.T.u from Russia, they deserved to win! But...it was the year my country, the UK, got their first ever nul points!

My favourite entries in 2008 were as follows:
1 Point: Israel - The Fire In Your Eyes
2 Points: Poland - For Life
3 Points: Malta - Vodka
4 Points: Belgium - O Julissi Na Jalini
5 Points: Albania - Zemren e Lame Peng
6 Points: Ukraine - Shady Lady
7 Points: Sweden - Hero
8 Points: Germany - Disappear
10 Points: Bosnia & Herzegovina - Pokusaj
12 Points: Iceland - This Is My Life

The performance and power of Iceland's song this year was amazing and it was obvious how much they enjoyed performing. Ukraine's Ani Lorak however stole the show this year in my opinion, you could not be bored watching it and a special mention about the humour instilled in Pokusaj!

My favourite entries in 2007 were as follows:
1 Point: Finland - Leave me alone
2 Points: Iceland - Valentine's lost
3 Points: Switzerland - Vampires are alive
4 Points: Cyprus - Comme ci, comme ca
5 Points: Slovenia - Cvet Z Juga
6 Points: Spain - I love you (mi vida)
7 Points: Bulgaria - Water
8 Points: Ukraine - Danzing lasha tumbai
10 Points: Georgia - Visionary dream
12 Points: Russia - Song #1

Russia was always my favourite song of the contest, although Georgia's debut is one of the strongest I have heard and no one could forget Verka's performance, it was brilliant! Very strong year for songs!

My favourite entries In 2006 were as follows:
1 Point: Armenia - Without your love
2 Points: Bulgaria - Let me cry
3 Points: Croatia - Moja Stikla
4 Points: Romania - Tonero
5 Points: Russia - Never let you go
6 Points: Greece - Everything
7 Points: France - Il était temps
8 Points: Malta - I do (Poor Fabrizio!)
10 Points: Ukraine - Show me your love
12 Points: Turkey - Superstar

When I saw Turkey perform in the final (without hearing the song prior) I thought it was horrible and screechy...and what was she wearing?! But now I listen to it and it's such a sexy song and she's got a great voice. I really like the English version as well..but it's not as sexy.

My favourite entries In 2005 were as follows:
1 Point: Poland - Czarna dziewczyna
2 Points: Germany - Run and Hide
3 Points: Slovenia - Stop!
4 Points: Romania - Let Me Try
5 Points: FYR Macedonia - Ti Si Son
6 Points: Israel - Hasheket Shenishar
7 Points: Norway - In My Dreams
8 Points: Portugal - Amare
10 Points: Greece - My Number One
12 Points: United Kingdom - Touch My Fire

Even though I am very patriotic - I don't think the UK's entry was the best because I am from Britain, it's because it is a great song and I listened to it so much! I hated Norway's entry back when I heard it first in May, but 6 Months later I love it!

My favourite entries In 2004 were as follows:
1 Point: Albania - The image of you
2 Points: FYR Macedonia - Life is
3 Points: Bosnia & Herzogovina - In the disco
4 Points: Cyprus - Stronger every minute
5 Points: Greece - Shake it
6 Points: Malta - On Again...Off Again
7 Points: France - A chaque Pas
8 Points: Ukraine - Wild Dances
10 Points: Serbia & Montenegro - Lane Moje
12 Points: Belgium - 1 Life

Even though I liked Xandee the best, Zelkjo is the true winner of ESC 2004! - It made me cry and was full of emotion!

My favourite entries of 2003 were as follows:
1 Point: Estonia - Eighties coming back
2 Points: Bosnia & Herzegovina - Ne Brini
3 Points: Portugal - Deixa-me sonhar
4 Points: United Kingdom - Cry Baby
5 Points: The Netherlands - One more night
6 Points: Spain - Dime
7 Points: Sweden - Give me your love
8 Points: Turkey - Every way that I can
10 Points: Iceland - Open your heart
12 Points: Russia - Ne ver', ne biosja
