My story

Glasgow **

Hi,

I'm Colin: your typical Eurovision fan from Scotland.

I started watching Eurovision from a very early age, it was on every year in our house as my mum was always a big fan. My earliest memory was falling asleep on the sofa during the 1976 contest and being woken up to see Brotherhood of Man winning. I was 4! I first really got into it in 1981 when Bucks Fizz entered and I desperately wanted them to win. When they did, I thought that the UK would go on to win every year....

I must admit to being one of these older fans who has mixed feelings about the way the contest is going. I love the fact that I can watch national finals from other countries online and find out much more about contestants before the contest itself, but I hate the fact that the voting has become so predictable and dull (without getting into any arguments about televoting) and that certain countries now seem to stand NO CHANCE of winning. However, change happens and we have to accept it or give up on the contest, and I'm nowhere near ready to do that!

So for those of you who are interested, these are my favourites from 2009:
UK (I'm not always so patriotic, but I love this song and I love Jade)
Norway (predictable, I know)
Bosnia-Herzegovina (if it's performed well, this is the one I'll probably vote for)
Malta (I'm in the minority, but this is my favourite of her 3 entries)
Montenegro (pop like this will always have a place amongst my favourites)

Biggest disappointments of 2009:
Sweden (it just doesn't do it for me)
Ukraine (traditionally one of my favourite ESC countries - it had to end sometime)

My favorite countries

The following countries are my favorite Eurovision Song Contest participating nations;
France Ireland
Iceland United Kingdom
Sweden Greece
Norway Bosnia & Herzegovina
Russia Ukraine
