As a kid I always watched the contest, but I was the only one in my family, I have always been a fan (and more for the whole show, than the music, because I think it could be a lot better), but the past years became a bigger fan, buying the albums and now also the dvd's I always watch alone, for some reason I just don't want to be distracted while watching ;-) And I also love to rate the stages. It seems the past years they've been improving a lot.
Besides that, not many people I know like the ESC so... hahaha.
As you can see on my pic: Stop by Omar Naber was my fave song entered in ESC ever. I absolutely love that song. Plus one of my alltime favorites is Marija Magdalena by Doris Dracovic (1999). I still love to hear that song every now and then, even though she cheated a little ;-)
(update: nowadays more and more of my friends start to watch ESC together with me (it is contagious) and seem to like it more and more)
For some fave songs scroll down, but to date 2003 is the ESC I have the best memories of. I just loved watching it that year. 2005 is the year I loved the most songs and that year is the best year imo, though I hated the stage. Way too dark. I loved the stage in 2008, the stage in Finland was a little too small and I hate all the words screaming on the screens behind the artists.
My fave Dutch entry still is Hemel & Aarde and even though it was a simple song, Esther Hart can really sing well. 2009 brings De Toppers. I'll leave you with: I'm sorry for that!!!!

My ranking for 2009 is now finally known (scroll down to see), but I so far I'm not impressed with the songs that are chosen. First of all I don't like De Toppers. At All!!! and they are going with the wrong song, it should have been Angels of the night.
There are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many ballads this year. I'm already bored to death by: Turkey (too much Helena Paparizou and it's a really bad song imo). I was able to make a top 12, but it was not easy after the first 5 songs
The rest is awful and I like none of the songs already chosen, and I wished Chiara had a better song. so much boring stuff, UK is really bad, Slovenia sends for the first time a song I don't like (DJ take me away in rock/classical form, won't do well). Cyprus... please, help that cat out of her misery. god it's frustrating. I was really hoping for some more quality, cause so far, I think 2009 will become the worst ESC in after the Millennium and the first in a very long time I am probably not going to watch. so please people... choose right (in other words, Sweden, don't go for Alcazar!!!

2008 - Turkey (my #1), Ukraine, Portugal, Israel, San Marino (Malta, Iceland and Bulgaria were nice too)
2007 - Georgia (my #1), Russia, Serbia, Moldova, Finland, Hungary, Cyprus
2006 - Ukraine (my #1), Armenia, Russia, Turkey, FYR Macedonia, Norway, Germany
2005 - Slovenia (my #1 of all time) Iceland, Greece and Israel were fantastic, plus Switzerland, Romania, Serbia & Montenegro, France (Andorra & Austria were nice in a cute way, loved the dancers of Andorra) I think 2005 is the ESC I enjoyed most the past 10 years because of the songs. I loved so many of them! I just didn't like the stage.
2004 - Ukraine (my #1), Norway, Serbia & Montenegro, Turkey, Cyprus, Sweden, FYR Macedonia, Belgium
2003 - Spain (my #1), Turkey, Belgium, Russia, Netherlands, Romania (this is the ESC I have the best memories of, though not all the songs were that great, I think it was a fantastic ESC year)
2002 - Greece (my #1), Malta, Sweden (not such a good year)
2001 - Greece (my #1), Slovenia, Netherlands (not a very good year either)
2000 - Russia (my #1), Denmark (this says enough)
1999 - Croatia (my #1), Iceland, Sweden
1998 - UK (my #1), Israel, Netherlands,
