My story

Daniel Tew

I'm a huge Eurovision fan from the UK and love everything about the contest. My earliest memories of Eurovision are the 1991 contest, Samantha Janus looking very pink and Carola's victory. I'd say that I became a fan in 1996 and remember that year in particular very well - I wanted Gina G to win so badly and was so disappointed when she didn't even come close - in my opinion the song was too good for the era in which it was entered. Since '96 I've not missed a contest (couldn't imagine not watching it!) and it has taken over my life little by little every year since! I've even written my thesis for my degree on the fandom of the Eurovision Song Contest and the subculture that has been created!
